Concert Reflection

Zariel Cruz Holiday Cheer.

I gave my piece the name Holiday Cheer because… I felt like it was close to the holidays and I said why not! So i gave it the name “Holiday cheer”. I began my piece totally different then it is now. At first my piece was all these weird notes just everywhere with no rhythm or smooth melodic sound. Then as the lessons started getting a little bit more complex my piece started sounding much better. Then I had to problem of adding different instruments, I wanted something that sounded nice and something that has a good harmony.  Composing music was pretty difficult at first because it was my first time doing it. Then as I kept going  I started to understand music a little more. I learned that it takes a really long time to compose a nice song. I thought that it could be done in as little as one week. I used to wonder why famous singers like Selena Gomez took a long time to come out with a new album. Now I know why. My song is related to getting ready for the new year and getting ready for christmas. At first my song is a bit fast and overwhelming, just like when you know the holidays are just around the corner. Then towards the middle my song is a bit more clam and relaxed, just like when you feel like you are ready for the holidays. Then towards the end it gets a bit more upbeat, just like in real life because you are so excited for whats coming next. Then finally at the end of my piece its nice and slow and clam, just like sitting by the warm fire drinking hot coco with mini marshmallows. My piece is dedicated to my entire family I love spending the holidays with them and I love them.

Humanities Reflection

The project I chose was my Shelter. I chose this piece because I worked really hard on it. I also chose this piece because I am really proud of it.  A challenge for me was keeping it stable on the bottom. I had to work hard on using my materials wisely because they were limited. The learning  habit I focused on was perseverance.  I learned that if you glue different materials together and then you glue another few materials together you can make somePhoto on 11-4-15 at 9.31 AMthing really strong and helpful.

First Weeks of Middle School

My first weeks in middle school were fantastic! I did new things that I have never  done  before. My first day was really suprising and fun. It was surprising because we didn’t learn anything, (and I thought middle school was going to be hard). I remember that I was so excited to see the locks and I hoped that I would get a top locker. I didn’t end up getting a top locker. Then I saw that there was a top locker that was free that no one was using. It had a post it on it that said “bum locker” it meant that the door was jammed. I figured out a way to open It easily  and that became my new locker. Then sooner or later more like one day later I fuigred out that I  could not reach the hooks so I went back to my bottom locker.        I had also heard from some of my friends throughout the day that we had a meeting the first day of school. I was so surprised a meeting on the first day of school was awe I just could not believe it. Then I found out that my meeting was at 3:35 I was really angry i thought the meetings were during school not after. Well I had a great first day and  first weeks I hope to have more amazing days, weeks, months and a great first year in middle school.

What Is An Immigrant ?

One day earlier in the year when we were about to study immigrants they asked us a question “What is an Immigrant ?”
We had to write about what we thought an immigrant was. I only filled up one page and a little on the other page. Then last week Jen asked us that same question so we had to write what we thought an immigrant was now. I wrote a lot but I didn’t finish yet since I learned so much about immigrants

Wiggly Line Writing

  • image
One day Dan and Jen gave us this piece of paper with a wiggly line on it. We had to continue the line so that we would draw a picture. Then we had to write a story that went with our picture. Here’s my story:

This is a story of a man and this man has a story. I am here today to tell his story. This story starts with a head and the head grows some hair. One hair is a very special hair, it is shaped differently and it curls in a different way.The curl makes an O shape. This hair strand is special.

It makes the man grow four arms. It also makes him see art all around him everywhere he sees art. Each hand makes a different piece of art. The top left arm makes connected lines that represent connections with him and art. The left bottom arms make flowers. The flowers represent growing. He is growing with his art, just like a flower grows. The top right arm makes a heart with spikes, this represents how he makes art with love and sometimes tough love. The right bottom arm draws abstract lines this represents that his art is abstract art.

All of these show one thing his love of art. This story is over, and by the way the name of the man with a story is named Artie, the man in the story is named Artie.

Once there was a story of a man and his name was Artie. His name is Artie because he loves to do art and to look at art and to buy art and to obsess over art and to eat food art.

Artie loves to do different things and his name changes with every activity he does. So when he likes to do art his name is Artie. When he likes to eat his name is Eatie. For example when he likes to do science his name is s\Scienie. Another example when his named changes is when he is reading his name turns into Readie.

Artie does not have that many friends but Artie’s best friend is Eatie. Artie and Eatie go on honeymoons. They were born on the same day, at the same time, in the same family, in the same hospital, in the same bed, with the same doctor. So if you did not understand this they are all the same people.(But don’t tell them I told you)

That’s Artie/Eatie.

Sharingg submarine sandwiches

This is my Sharing submarine Sandwiches poster. What I did was I drew on a whiteboard. In the first part I drew a photo of Ten circles since it is 12 people 10 sandwiches. The circles stand for the sandwiches. So then I had to split each sandwich into 12 little pieces. Then I basically did the exact same thing on the bottom. I’m Happy with the way I showed my thinking because this was a pretty difficult project and I took the problem and showed it in a different way and I understood what I was doing.  My understanding of visuals changed a lot between now and then because now I never use this methed of math. Because some times I get a little confused. image

Jacob Riis I Scrubs

imageOne day in class Dan and Jen read us a book called “How the other half lives” By Jacob Riis. Jacob Riis was a photographer in the 1890s. In the book there was a photo of a girls standing on the street and she did know what he was doing. He titled it I Scrubs because I belive that the girl said that. Our assignment was to Write what we thought the girl said. during Curriculum Night our parents had to do the same think accept they did not read the book.

Welcome to my blog

My name is Zariel. I went to a Museum exhibition about immigrants and their belongings with my sister Angelina. At the back of the museum there was a sign that said ” Restricted area no admittance allowed” but of course I had to take a look and what I saw was a trunk I opened the trunk and I saw lots of toys, books, clothes and photos. I felt so shocked when I found it because I thought why would they close up this area I mean it is the coolest part of the museum. I think it is important to learn about the past because I can learn about how people lived back then or maybe I can even learn about my family. Some things people can find on my blog is Paintings, letters and much more.
