Hello Everyone! Today in Science we did a simulation. We had three starting populations. We needed them to grow over time. The sharks had to eat two minnows, the minnows had to eat one seaweed, and the seaweed does not have to eat anything, but they have a very likely chance of getting eaten, because they can’t move. Here is how it turned out:

In the first round, there was a shark. And, as you can see, it did not survive. The minnows did OK. And the seaweed did not do so well. It went from 14 to 6 to o, and the sharks, minnows, and seaweed all died in the end. There you have it!

Music Compositions

In music we are making compositions. We had already made compositions. I really liked composing this one because I already knew how to compose. We learned from the last composition. But, there were some challenges. We had to put 30 different instruments in it and make chord progressions. Sometimes it was hard to compose melodies also, but overall I liked composing! 🙂

Apple Vs FBI

In d-lab we talked about apple giving the skeleton key to the FBI. We talked about the upsides to that and the down sides.

I talked to my family about apple giving the FBI the skeleton key. I have mixed feelings about tit. I think they should’t give it to them, because it could open ANYONE’s apple phone, but I think I should give it to them because they need to know if the person that committed the crime was talking to other people to do something else bad. People have personal texts, pictures, emails, and much more that could be exposed. For one, people could hack in to the FBI.  I don’t know if the FBI has that that much security that it would be safe enough. And two, apple customers might stop buying from them. But I also think that there should be a way to access the person’s phone that they need.

Gun Violence

I talked to my family about gun violence. It is a horrible thing. The 2nd amendment says: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” That means if you feel threatened or like someone will physically hurt you, you can be armed and shoot them. I don’t agree with that fully, because many times, people think that someone is trying to hurt them, so they shoot them. I turns out that sometimes that is not true, and the person that is accusing the other person of hurting them, shoots them, and it turns out that they were innocent. I think if you are selling guns, you have to do a very severe, specific back round check to make sure that the person you are selling the gun to, is not mentally ill, a terrorist, or just someone dangerous or bad. I think we also need more access to health care, if you are mentally ill, so that we can get help for them so they won’t do something bad like shoot someone. I think it is racist when people target certain races. I feel like they have no right to do that! If one person from a race did something wrong, than other people would be scared of EVERYONE from that race. I think people are scared of muslims because of ISIS, and black people because they think they are dangerous. But the truth is muslims and black people aren’t bad! Maybe a few of them are, but that does not mean they all are!

My Atom

Screen Shot 2015-11-10 at 9.22.18 AMHi everyone! This is my atom. The blue and green circles are protons and neutrons. The atomic mass on the periodic table is 4 for Helium, and the atomic number is 2. You take the 4, and minus the 2 and get 2. That is the amount of protons and the amount of neutrons. All together, there are 4. Then you have to add the electrons witch is always the same number of neutrons and it is 2. The electrons are an orbit. It makes the electron cloud.

Being turned in to a computer

In d.lab, Claire turned us in to a computer. We each got a part of a computer. Some parts were: Hard drive, RAM, Peripherals, Bios, fan, and user. I was a user and an peripheral. It was really fun. We were acting like a computer, and doing computer work. The user would call out a computer action, then we would do it.

My font

Hi everyone! This is my font. It got cut of so it is hard to read. I liked it when you could read it. In art we had a  ¨rule¨ of your font. The rule of mine was that all letters were curly at the end. I might redo my font to make it so you could see it better. My font does not have a name.

5th grade Big Bang

Hi everyone! For the first month of 5th grade, we have been studying the Big Bang. I worked with some other kids on making a model of the Big Bang. None of our models can actually be exactly like the big bang so here were some inaccuracies: The big bang happened in less than a second, and ours happened in about 15 seconds. Also, the big bang happened silently because there is no sound in space. One accuracy was that it spread evenly everywhere. Also an accuracy is that it landed in small clumps and big clumps like stars and. Enjoy the video!

The first weeks of school were great! I love middle school! I love all of the classes. I also love having dessert at lunch. Middle school makes me feel older and more independent. On the first day of school I thought that I would get lost a million times. Luckily I have only got lost once 😉  Middle school is so different from lower school. We have lockers, MS meeting and student reps. We also had its my park day when LREI students come and clean up the park that we have recess at. We paint things and clean things.22741025792_4dc0435b60_m
