The Fourteenth Goldfish

This book is called The Fourteenth Goldfish. It is written by a woman named Jennifer L. Holm. The setting of this book is in our time. It is set near 2015 and the characters are mostly at Ellie’s house, (Ellie is the main character) at her school and at her grandfather’s lab. The main characters in this book are Ellie, Ellie’s grandfather, Raj Ellie’s Friend, Moma Ellie’s friend, Brianna Ellie’s X-friend, Ellie’s Mother, Ellie’s Father and Ben Ellie’s Mother’s boyfriend (her parents got a divorce). The main problem in the story is her grandfather is a scientist but when he experimented on himself he looked different so he could not get the experiment back from the office. No one recognized him for who he really was except his daughter and niece. How will he get the experiment back?

The plot of the story is Ellie Roy and Ellie’s grandfather are trying to break into to the lab to get the experiment. They need the experiment because it could help people live longer; it could make a big difference in the world. Ellie was also dealing with her best friend and it seems like she lost her to the volleyball team.   A lot of the time Ellie’s grandfather and her mother got into fights but silly things like when to take out the trash. Normally Ellie would have to make a up her mind to see who she would agree with, but there are times when she can get away with not choosing at all. In the end of the story they figure out how to break in but it is not very easy. They have to figure out a plan where they will not get caught by the police. But still Ellie realized, “Its the circle of life, things need to move forward not backward”.

I really enjoyed the book because I like to learn things about science and this book had a lot of it. I also liked this book because it interested me to find out how they would break into the lab. Lastly, it was interesting to me to figure out what would happen to her friend Brianna. For example, when they talked to each other it was always sort of awkward because there were long sentence breaks and they did not really know what to talk about.   I think a reader who would enjoy to read about  someone’s life story or someone who enjoys science. I would rate this book 4 stars

This is math I am proud of. The one on the left is a math poster I am very proud of this poster because I think I showed my work very well. But if I had more time I would probably have added a equation, sentence and some more but I am still proud of it. The one on the left I am proud of because I showed my work in two ways to make sure I was right. This year when I was working I did not fully understand why place value mattered so much. When I was doing a math sheet my partner helped me have a-ha moment. She made me realize that if your place value is wrong the answer is wrong. I am really nervous for middle school but I think I will be able to handle it. I have herd the math is really hard in middle school but I think it will be ok.

Marten

This is Marten. Marten is a weasel.He had no tail. So he asked his mother for a tail. His mother said she could not give him a tail because she did not know how. So Marten went to find a tail.

He searched everywhere for a tail. After a while he decided to stop and then a Spider came over to him and asked, “What was the matter?” Marten told Spider what had happened and then the Spider said,

“Well I can get you a tail, but only if you do something for me”. Marten thought and then said,

“what do you want?” The spider said,

“I want the juiciest watermelon in Moles garden!” Marten agreed and then a long black tail appeared. Marten was so happy.

He ran all the way to Mole’s garden and then Marten realized how stubborn Mole is, how would he get the watermelon? Marten thought about it and then decided to sneak the watermelon. So he entered the little hole in the Mole’s fence. The fence was as sharp as nails. It brushed against his small body.

He snuck in and hid behind a honeydew and grabbed a watermelon and ran! He ran so fast the watermelon almost slipped out of his hands.

When he got to the hole in the fence he pushed the watermelon all he could, but the watermelon was stuck. Then he decided to pull but it still did not fit. Marten needed to get the watermelon so he could keep his tail. Then he thought why do I need a tail? Why do I want one? Then he decided he no longer needed a tail, because Marten is unique and does not need a tail to fit in. But he still pushed to get Spider what he wanted and then “POP” the watermelon rolled out of Mole’s garden and into the Spider’s tree. The watermelon cracked open for the two to share. But before they ate Marten told Spider that he did not want a tail so the tail disappeared and they both laughed. The Spider got what he wanted and so did Marten. They both went home because they could not miss dinner, but they went home knowing there would be more adventures ahead!

The End

The Mole’s Revenge!

These days Marten and Spider have been playing together. They like playing tag but since there was only two of them they became very lonely. So they went looking for a friend. As Mole was gardening his prize pumpkins he overheard their plan. Since Mole was still very, very, very, upset with them because of Marten stealing Mole’s watermelon, he decided to pretend to be a friend and steal Spider. He laughed at his brilliant plan and went off to start getting ready.

Marten and Spider went along looking for a friend. Just then they heard something they were not sure what it was so they went over to the bush where the noise was coming from, and saw Mole sitting there crying. So they helped him up and took him to Marten’s house. Marten went to go get some berries for Mole and spider because it was lunch, so Mole and Spider were left alone. Just then Mole threw a bag over Spider and ran out the door.

When Martin came home right away he noticed Spider and Mole were not there so he ran all the way to Mole’s house with no tail dragging behind him. When Martin arrived he knew Mole hasn’t changed. So he went inside and saw Spider hanging from the ceiling. Then he waited until Mole was distracted and untied spider and they both ran all the way home!

The End               

Field day  I chose this because field day was so much fun! I loved playing the different games with my big buddy. I had a lot of fun! We played games like blob tag, fishy fishy and link tag! I can’t wait till next year!

Little buddy’s I chose this because I love my little buddy so much! Her name is Bella and she is so cute. I love every second I spend with her! Every time I see her she makes me smile  and I will miss her so much!

The farm I choses to write about this because I enjoyed that field trip so much! And I am so sad I can not go back. but I still remember it like it was yesterday. I had so much fun!

The play I choses to write about this because I thought it was so fun! And even though I was not there I enjoyed all the practices we had and I am really excited to see the play!

I wrote these poems about a book named kai’s Journey To Gold Mountain. It was a book about kai and how he made it to gold Mountain.

 I choses to write about it because it was very important to help the statue of liberty stay where it is now. The new colossus is a poem by Emma Lazarus.
