Over spring break I was talking with my mom about finding a better way to handle stress. In the week I spend most of my time working on homework, but I don’t take breaks. I now realize not taking breaks can just make you more unfocused. During the exercise lab the eighth graders did I realized exercise helps keep you more focus. This is what made me realize by exercising I can better handle my stress. Me and my mom talked about running sometimes before school and after school I can take the dog on a walk. This realization made me understand I deal with a lot of stress. I think I need to organize myself better or get rid of some things in my schedule to make more room for school. I am super exited to try this out and hopefully it will help with my stress.

My special room
I wrote about my new room because for this project we were supposed to close our eyes and think of a special place. We were supposed to write down 7 words and then write something using these words. I thought for me the best way to show my words was in a poem.
While I was at Ashokan I got to try something new called blacksmithing. This is an experience I will never forget because of how hot the metal was. I remember how scared I was to get anywhere close to the burning metal. As we went through the line of people I watched everyone hesitate to pick up the hammer. I watched the fire slowly melt the metal and when the instructor took it out of the fire you could see it was just barely a solid. When it was my turn I grabbed the hammer and started to hit the melted metal. I look back at how the metal glowed yellow and even sparked because it was over 2,000 degrees. I thought it was amazing how the metal was so easy to bend, flatten and even twist. This is something mind blowing that I can’t believe I got to experience.
My first theory is because humans made such a huge impacted on this planet and since they are no longer running this planet it will go to disaster cars will crash and the power will go out. Also all of the pressure in power plants will blow up and create fires that will spread. All of these powerful gasses will be released into the air causing big problems. But I still do not think any animals will be able to survive this crises, what do you think?
During this assignment I learned many new rules and words in the french language. One is any time you are talking about yourself you put a je or j’ at the beginning of each word. I also leaned if you are talking about you then if it is informal you add a vous and take away the r and add a z but if it is informal then you just take away the r and add a s. And if you are talking about we than you take away the er and add a ons but you have to add a nous in the beginning. And lastly when you are talking about they you take away the r and add a nt plus you put a elles or ils on the front. When I did this activity I really enjoyed learning new things and working in my group.
Where does it go?
In New York city everyday at least 12,000 tons of garbage is made. Also there are no landfills in New York yet, most of our garbage is sent to other places like Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio. There it is either recycled to make different things like electricity and more items or taken to places like New Jersey where it is processed and sent to recycling markets. So really there is no away. In class we are working on a operation manual for our spaceship earth study. During this project one rule we came across is no such thing as away.
Is This how you want to live?
On Tuesday we got to go out to take a pole. I was really excited when we went and I learned how many of the older men voted for Bernie Sanders and many of the women voted for Hillary Clinton. I thought it was really cool how the system worked. But something that surprised me was how in our neighborhood almost no one voted for the republicans. Anyway I really enjoyed being a pallor because I thought it was fun to interview people!
This is my Egyptian painting I made it for the tomb. I am really proud of it because I spent a lot of time working on it. It took forever because I had to draw every feather it took forever!
