Describing my coat of arms

For my coat of arms my motto is virtute et voluntate which is Latin for bravery and will. I did this because in the middle ages, this motto would show that you would probably win a few battles. This is because these two traits would help you win battles and maybe even make people intimidated by you! I chose the color red because it represents battle. If you walked into battle with a coast of arms that had red on it, it could show the other army that you are experienced and have been to battle before. I chose the color blue because it represents truth and loyalty. This could tell someone that you will be loyal to them and may trust you to do a great deed such as go to war with some of their men. This would be a good idea in the middle ages. I chose the boar because it represents bravery and fighting to the death. I did this because a boar would show the other army if you were in a battle that this would not end well for you, or that this would be hard fought. The other part of the boar, the bravery, would just make the other army even more intimidated! It just shows that you are brave enough to keep going and if you would go at someone even if you knew that they had better strategy than you. The boar is also a memorable animal because not that many people use it and your coat of arms was the only way people knew who you were. I chose the falcon because it shows that you never give up. Combining bravery and perseverance mans that you will never give up even if someone has skimmed you with their sword. All of these traits add up to make one great battle. Next, I chose the sword because it represents power, protection, strength, and courage. This just adds on to the battle. Strength would help because, well if you were stronger than the other army, you would win! Protection, means that you would protect someone if you needed to. All of these show that the sword is a strong item to put on your coat of arms because it represents so many great traits. I chose the laurel leaves because it represents peace and triumph. You may not think you would want to put peace on the coat of arms, but that is good because it would be unique. Though, because it represents triumph, it also shows you could make I peace treaty but if you don’t want to I will triumph, oh yeah and the rest of things represented on my coat of arms. Finally, the helmet was on there because basically if you did not have one it was not normal and people would think less of you.

Note:I got all of the representation information from this website:http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/blog/genes-reunited-blog/archive/2013/11/7/what-the-symbols-on-coats-of-arms,-family-crests-and-seals-mean
