Chapter 1

 Cameron Cowy’s story

This story is about a cow. His name is Cameron Cowy. His favorite sport is soccer. He loved soccer so much that he wished to play on the Cow Country pro soccer team. (Cow Country is a Country in Animal Planet).

Cowy played on 3 cow youth soccer teams when he was 6. Cowy was good so he played in the under 8 division. Cowy tried to play his best in every game.He loved soccer.  He usually scored in every game. Sometimes he played extra soccer by playing with U-7 or U-6. He usually played midfield.

When Cowy got older he got better. When he was 17 the Cow Country pro team heard about Cowy. The negotiator graded Cowy to see if he was good enough to play. The negotiator said that Cowy needed to wait 2 more years to play. You’re supposed to be 19 to play pro.

Disappointed, Cowy said “what was my grade?”

“A-” said the negotiator.

“That’s good, right?” said Cowy

The negotiator said “yes”, but Cowy interrupted and said, “Then why can’t I play on the B team?”

The negotiator gave him a stern look then said, “Fine”, so Cowy played on the B team. Cowy was happy.

Cowy played good soccer for 2 seasons. He scored a lot of goals because he practiced. They won 1 tournament during those 2 seasons.

One day when Cowy turned 19 he got a letter that said welcome to the A team!

Cowy was so happy and excited because he can play with the stars of Cow Country.

On his first game Cow Country played Cat County. Cows beat Cats 3-0 Cowy scored all 3 goals. He realized he had accomplished his goal! He was happy. And excited. So that’s how Cameron Cowy became famous.

Chapter 2

  The practice for the APWC

One day Cameron Cowy woke up in the middle of the night. He wanted to practice before actual practice because the Animal Planet World Cup was about to happen. The top 11 cows played on the starting 11. Cowy wanted to be on the starting 11 because he wanted to play a lot of soccer and score a lot of goals. That very practice the coach ranked the cows. Cowy ranked 12, so that meant he wasn’t going to play as much as other Cows. He was sad because he was very close to be 11th.

Three days before the APWC (Animal Planet World Cup) started, Carson Cow # 9 in the rank, broke his leg. So # 12 which was Cowy had to replace Carson Cow because the number after 11 is 12. Now, Cowy is playing as much as he wants. He was Mooless!( which also means speechless.)

Chapter 3

The group stage of the APWC

Cow country’s first game in the 2010 APWC was against Salamander State. The score was 2-0 Cows. Claude Cows scored both goals. He was 1st in the ranks. Cowy assisted 1 goal.

Cow Country’s second game was against Penguin Palace. They beat them 4-0. Cowy scored a goal. Marvin Mooer scored 2 goals and Claude Cows scored 1 goal.

Cow Country’s 3 and last game in the group was against Pig Peninsula. They tied 1-1. Patrick Piggy scored for the Pigs. Matt Mooster scored for the Cows.

In the group stage, there are 4 teams. Each team plays 3 games. The top 2 teams in their group qualify for the round, of 16. The round of 16 means that there are 16 teams left in the tournament.

Chapter 4

The round of 16 in the 2010 APWC

In the round of 16, The number 1 team in one group plays the number 2 team in the next group. The number 2 team was the Horses.

In that game, no one passed to Cowy. He felt left out. But, at the 84th minute out of 90, Marvin Mooer was dribbling. Cowy said, “Pass!” but Marin ignored him. Cowy kept running with Marvin; some defenders were attacking Marvin. He tried to pass but the defenders stole the ball. Cowy tried to steal the ball from the horses. He was successful at his mini mission. Then he took a hard, good shot, but the goalie saved the ball. Marvin rebounded the ball and scored. The final score was 1-0 Cows.

Chapter 5

The quarter-finals

In the quarter-finals you have to win to get to the semi-finals. Then you have to win 1 more game to win the whole thing.

Cow Country played Bear Burg,a really hard team because they have gone to the finals 4 times and won once.

Claude Cows was dribbling. He passed to Cowy when Cowy looked up he saw defenders charging so he passed back to Claude. Claude shot and scored. The final score was 2-0. Claude scored again off a penalty kick.

Chapter 6

   The semi-finals and the finals

Cow Country was playing Monkey Mania in the semi finals. Monkey Mania used to be the best team until Goat Garden became better.

Cowy was afraid. The last time Cows played the Monkeys the Monkeys won 5-0. Monkey Mania’s disadvantage was that their best player sprained his ankle. At the 29th min The Monkeys scored it was 1-0,until the 69 min when Claude Cows scored off of a header from a corner kick. At the 81st min Cowy passed to Claude Cows. He passed to Marvin who shot and scored!!! The cows were winning 2-1. Then at the 84th minute the Monkey’s scored but it was offside. When something is offside in soccer it is when a person on one team passes to a person on their team but the person that got passed to was passed the last defender on the other team. So the score was still 2-1. At the 87th min the monkeys scored again but someone on the monkeys handballed the ball before. That means that someone touched the ball with their hand, fingers, elbow or arm. The score was still 2-1!  The cows were holding on. Then, 4 minutes later, the whistle blew. “We are going to the finals!” yelled Cowy.

Seven days later, Cowy woke up in the middle of the night to practice before the game. Cow Country was playing Goat Garden, the best team on Animal Planet. At the first minute of the game, Goatie scored for Goat Garden. The cows got ready fast; they started so quickly that Marvin Mooer scored. The cows didn’t give up. At the 18th minute, Cameron Cowy scored off a free kick!!! The score was 2-1. Marvin Mooer passed to Cameron Cowy, Cowy dribbled, passed two defenders, then he shot the ball and scored. The score was  3-1!!  The Cows were winning! At the 87th minute, there was a corner kick for Cow Country.  Claude Cow took it. Matt Mooster headed the ball and scored!

The score was 4-1.

Chapter 7

 The Final Whistle

Four minutes later, after one minute of extra time, the final whistle blew! Cow Country won the whole tournament!!! They won the APWC!!!  All the cows jumped over moon and ran all around like the animals they are.  Cowy was so happy as they lifted the trophy!

Cowy was so mooved.  And again, Cowy was mooless.

The End

Immigration to Riccardo Cozza Blog Project

My name is Luca. I found things that belonged to Riccardo Cozza in a big huge closet in my house. Some of the things that I found were his chest and his letter that he wrote at Ellis Island.I felt amazed at all the stuff that I found in the closet that was there for a long time. I think that it is important to learn about the past because you can learn about your ancestors and what they have done. On this blog you might find Riccardo’s Ellis Island letter that he wrote there when he came here. He wrote the letter to his cousins in Italy. You might also find his chest that he took from Italy. You can find his picture when he came into Ellis Island, his oral history and more.

Riccardo’s Journal Entry about Life in Italy

Life was sad and hard in Italy because in my family we didn’t have a lot of money.  We were so poor that we didn’t have enough food.  We had ten people in our medium sized house.  My three cousins, my two sisters, my aunt and uncle, my mom and dad and me! We had so little food,so little money with ten people it didn’t work out. One day we lost our house because we only had 5 Lira . Not enough to have a house. So ten people sat around a campfire with no bed and no covers until we had enough liras to get another house that was two rooms smaller than our house before. The good thing was that we had more beds but two people had to share. We also had more bathrooms but still not enough liras or food.

One day we had heard about America. The people of our town said that the streets in America were paved with gold. They also said that America was full of opportunities. When my dad told me that we were moving to America I freaked out. The next day my dad told me that he was going to America in two days.  My dad went two months before us because he was going to find a home for us. When we come we can all stay in our house. I was very sad because my dad was going away and I was leaving my cousins and my best friend. I was leaving My family and everything that I knew so I started to cry. I knew I was taking my backgammon game and my clothes. And if I could I would bring my stuffed animal Monkey. When my dad left I felt really sad because I wasn’t going to see him for two months and two months is a long time.

Tenement inspectors Journal Entry

My name is Riccardo Cozza. I am from Italy. I came to America in December 1905. My story is about my first time hearing about the tenement inspectors.

I woke up one morning and I heard loud footsteps getting louder and louder. Then they stopped and the door opened. I hid under my covers , my two sisters did the same because I told them to. It turned out it was my dad telling us that he had to go to work and that the inspectors for the tenement were coming over. When I heard that I got scared and had so many questions. I was scared of the inspectors at Ellis Island because they looked rough and they had tools that looked like they would hurt you. So when I heard inspectors I thought it would be the same thing. I was wrong they didn’t inspect you, they inspected the tenement.

I asked are they going to be like the inspectors from Ellis Island? I also asked when are they coming? How long are they going to be there? Will they fix the heat? But all my dad did was say I don’t know and shut the door. I got dressed and ate breakfast and played a game of backgammon with my sister Maria. She is 6 years old. I won by 8 points. After that I went outside to take my sisters to school. When I went back home my mom told me that they measured everything and checked everything and that she doesn’t know what to do. I was really scared that something bad might happen. As I got older I realized that the tenement inspectors measured the stairs because the stairs need to be 8 inches tall. They checked to see if the stairway had a banister. They did this to make the place safe. I thought they were going to be like the medical inspectors in Ellis Island where they use the painful tools to check to see if you’re healthy. If you’re not healthy they will send you back to your country, where you came from.

A Recording of Riccardo

This is Riccardo’s Oral history. In my closet I found a tape with his Oral history on it.
