We had a chinese new year celebration. It was really fun and I think everyone enjoyed it. Me and the rest of the fifth grade mandarin class each had a sentence related to the new year. Mine was “May everyday be happy.” We also each had a sheet of rice paper with our sentence in characters on it. I was really proud of myself and it was fun too. After we performed we watched the other grades do their performance. It was really cool.
This picture is of when we practiced calligraphy. We watched a video that taught us how to do it. It taught us things like how to hold the brush and when to press harder and when to go softer, and how to make different strokes. I found it really interesting. It was hard to remember to keep my elbow up and not wright like I was using a pencil. Once I practiced several times we each got a sheet of rice paper and wrote it down. We then used them in our presentation in the celebration.
