My Memoir Draft

Happiness is petting a lazy black furred goat and having it roll over. Happiness is when the dwarf goats are so happy to see you, when it makes you feel special. Happiness is chocolate ice cream that doesn’t drip on a hot day, when it refreshes you and you want 30 more. Happiness is watching a new movie, a movie where you wish you were in it. Happiness is playing on a Xbox with a game you’re good at. It’s even better when you play with your friends and you win the game. Happiness is being proud of something hard you completed. It doesn’t even have to be hard either, just something you’re proud of. That’s happiness to me.

Once, I had a moment of happiness when I went to the London Zoo. It was my 2nd time ever crossing the border of the U.S and I was young and excited to go to the London Zoo with my parents. I wanted to go straight to the petting zoo because I saw on the map that they had goats. I wanted to go straight to the goats but then realized that I wanted to save the goats for last. I went to see the cows and they were mooing like they wanted to eat lunch. It seemed like they didn’t notice they could graze in the grass below their hooves. I was trying to communicate with them. “MOOOOOO!” I shouted, trying to tell them that they had food below them. Then I saw the pigs rolling around in the mud and fighting over their food. I commented to my parents, “The piggies are going nom nom nom on the trash.” Then I saw the goats. I ran inside the goat pen and all the goats ran towards me. I was bending down on my knees to pet the little dwarf goats but there were so many of them. Goats were my favorite animals so it was overwhelming when they came. I grabbed a branch from a tree before we left and said “Bye goats!” and gave them the branch. They were the most friendliest goats ever.

CPSC is happiness for me. I go to the Multi Sports and the Elite Soccer camps there. In the summer at Chelsea Piers Camp, I meet so many new friends. One of them is now one of my best friends and we both like soccer and basketball. I’m not going to mention his name and this is not because he’s better than me at basketball, It’s because It’s his privacy. His little brother is also my friend and also likes soccer and basketball. He also plays on the Chelsea Piers travel soccer team and so do I. I met them in my first year at the camp. I can naturally make friends and that’s what I did. We were both shooting on the basketball court and talking to each other and I asked him if we wanted to be friends and he said yes. He’s a year older than me but that doesn’t change our friendship. Whenever he’s there, I have a great time because he’s hilarious and when he’s not, I still have a good time because I have so many other friends and I love sports.

Another time I felt happiness was when I won my first and only basketball championship. My team went to House of Sports to play our tournament. We were really excited to play and in our first game, we showed our energy by winning the first game by a large amount. All we had to do was win one more game and we would be in the finals. In our next game, we won but the game was closer this time. We were feeling good going into the finals but the team we were facing beat us the last two times. That team was BSNY. All the other times we played them it came down to the wire. That was the case this game. We were up one with thirty seconds left until our best player made a layup. They put up a three to tie it at the buzzer but missed and we swarmed as a big group together. We were really happy and BSNY made the game so competitive. We were so exhausted when it ended. The trophy we got was as shiny as a new car. A month from when we won the trophy, someone walked in to Chelsea Piers and knocked it off the shelf and the trophy broke. I will always remember the trophy though.

A benefit of being happy is that you feel that nothing can stop you and make you unhappy. Another is when you’re happy, you go into a challenge with a willingness to never give up. When I’m happy, sometimes it makes other people happy. Sometimes other people feel sad when they lose but most of the time other people get happy too.

Gun Violence

I talked about gun violence with my mom and this is what we came up with:

We both think that the world would be safer without guns but there are problems with not having them in the world like the armed forces wouldn’t be able to protect our country and police wouldn’t be able to protect cities. Maybe there should be stricter laws around gun purchases because that would limit the number of people who have access.

The problem with this is people have the right to bear arms in the Constitution so we’d have to change the Constitution for the country to have the same gun law throughout. Right now, each state gets to make up its own laws. While New York City has a law that you have to have a permit to own a gun, lots of places don’t like Alabama and Mississippi. We looked at a website that said 1 in 3 people know someone who has been killed by a gun.

Math Post (Math Quiz)

I was proud of my organizing of my work because it was clear and helped me figure out the problems and get the right answers. I was challenged by the factor string problem because it was hard trying to find all of the strings or as many as I could find with such a high number. I still need to work on double checking my work before I hand it in and also I have to work on making my work make sense.

Math Final Assessment

This is my math assessment for the end-of-unit of division. I made some mistakes and if you look closely, you’ll see. I know I got one problem right. It was the one that gave me headaches! That just proves that if you put your mind to something, anything can happen.

Shelter

1446647941428.1Something I worked hard on is my shelter. This was made with Blue. We had sticks (actual sticks), fur (actual fur and fake fur(felt)), peat (actual peat), snowballs (cotton balls) and stones (actual stones). Something that was challenging was making a free-standing structure. It was hard because it fell over every single time. We got it to stand up when we put the cotton balls glued to the sticks.

Human Computer

Last week in D-lab, Clair turned us into a computer! We all were computer parts and doing what the computer parts did. I played the roles of CPU, User and Peripheral. I noticed that the computer goes really fast. I learned that whenever the computer is loading, you should not be mad, it is doing so much for you. I would of liked to played the role of the Hard Drive.
