Blue’s Artist Statement

ARTIST STATEMENT Reflecting on your artwork and sharing your thoughts about the art making process is an important part of art. Please thoughtfully complete the statements below based on the work of art you just finished.

I would like to name this work of art: Blue’s portraits

I created this work of art by first taking a picture of me. Jeremiah showed us different techniques we could make our portraits. The techniques were, blending pencils, oil pastel, colored  pencils, chalk pastel, and screen printing.

Some of things I learned while creating it were how to use different ways to make portraits using different art materials, every picture you do will not be exactly the same, and that it’s kinda a long process.

My favorite part is when I did the screen printing. It was my favorite part because before I didn’t know how to do it really… It was fun rolling the paint and spreading it onto the Styrofoam that had my portrait.

If I could change something about it, it would be (include why) the oil pastel portrait I did out of all of them because I found myself rushing and it didn’t turn out to what I wanted it to.

While making the project I was surprised that it was fairly easy to learn the techniques.
