The New Colossus

In school we read a poem and it is call “The New Colossus” and I thought it was a great poem because it was of the Statue Of Liberty. When our teachers showed us the poem I was confused because I didn’t think that it was about the Statue Of Liberty but then I figured it out. Also I was confused why they showed us this poem. But now that it is June and we are at the end of the school year and we learned more about immigration I know now why they showed us the poem. I think they showed us the poem because when people were immigrating to somewhere else and at the time someone named Emma Lazarus heard about people having hard time, and when people came into the harbor of New York the first thing you see is the Statue Of Liberty.
