My Personal Naritive
The Rat
Sydney and I were sitting on the ski lift, I shuffled in my seat. We were waiting to jump off the ski lift. Sydney and I looked around the mountain. The trees were covered in snow. We watched as people skied under us. “ Where do you think we’re going to ski today?” I asked Sydney.
“I don’t know let’s ask Orean!” We shuffled over to Orean. “Hey Orean,” we asked, “where are we skiing today?” “Are you up for a challenge?” he replied.“YES!” we said, we were really excited. Orean took us down our normal trail. I wondered where he was taking us. Maybe he was taking us on a tree trail, Orean liked tree trails. Maybe he was taking us to the top of the mountain, he has been waiting for that. Orean kept skiing down so I followed. Finally he took us to the side,
“This is The Rat.” Orean said. He was standing in front of an unmarked trail. I tried to peek over his shoulder. I saw a red sign out of the corner of my eye that said, “Expert Skiers ONLY.” I realized this was going to be tough.
I could image it. It was terrible. Every bone in my body was broken. I had gone too fast. I couldn’t control myself. The ski patrol had to come. They had to pick me up on a stretcher. they we taking me to the hospital. I was lying on a hospital bed but I had to do it I just had to. When Orean said my name ,multiple times, I came back to reality “ Don’t worry,” Orean said “I know you can do it.”
We started down the slope. It was thin, icy, rocky and a bit patchy but otherwise it was beautiful. I started getting tense. Every part of my body was working. Sydney, Scarlett and I were turning slowly. Of course my friend Morgan whizzed ahead trying to show off. There was a cry of pain and Orean asked me if I wanted to go see if Morgan was okay. I turned down the trail, I saw someone lying in the middle of the trail. “Yep thats Morgan” I thought. I skied down to her and waited for the others to come down. When Orean got there he asked if she was okay. She said she had skied right off a rock like a ski jump and caught her thumb on a rock. She got up and skied in the back with Orean. Once we finished every bone in my body was aching. I saw a slit of light I skied down to it and there was an opening. Soon we were skiing through the trees and sunlight. It was flat and and powdery. I had been so scared of the Rat, but I had come over my fear and I did it. Now we were coming to the end of the trail. My favorite part of that trail was when we found a opening with only a few trees. My friends and I skied into it. Our skis got stuck under all the powder and we fell flat on our faces. My ski teacher Orean laughed at us and tried to pull us out of the snow. We laughed as he grabbed Morgan by the waist and tried to pull her out of the snow. He couldn’t do it and he fell into the snow next to us. Since we were stuck we took off our skis. The ground was so hard to stand on we wobbled. And of course we fell into the snow. It was nearly impossible to get up because we were so sore. so we just started to play around in the snow. We made snow angels, they weren’t very good snow angels. Then Orean started a snowball fight we all had a “fort” (tree) and we had to make a pile of snowballs. Anyway we were lying on the snow. Our bodies sank into the snow. We got out of the snow and got our skis back on. We skied out of the trail, with smiles on our faces, and went home.
