Mathematical Similarity Summary

Figures are mathematically similar when..

When all of the corresponding angles are congruent.

When there is a scale factor between the two shapes.

True or False

Any two rectangles are similar :

1) All the angles are the same (90 degrees).
2) If you have two rectangles, the sides of one could be 1 and 2 units. For the other they could be 1 and 3 units. The sides do not have the same proportions. One is 1:1 and the the other is 2:3.
So rectangles are not all similar.

Any two equilateral triangles are similar :

For the equilateral triangles since they always have 3 angles that are each 60°, any 2 equilateral triangles will be similar.

Math Profile

One of my math triumphs was in 3rd grade where we had a really hard going teacher giving us a lot of work and hard tests and I did really well in one of her test. I like learning math because it can be rewarding when you overcome something. I don’t like learning math because it can be very frustrating. I consider myself an ok math student because some things are really hard for me but others are really easy. I try to study using my notes or sheets we use in class. When I do homework I am a little bit of a procrastinator but this year I am really trying to stop procrastinating. When I get stuck doing math homework first I look at my notes and if I can’t figure it out from them I ask my parents. When I was younger I really loved math and doing it but now I still like it but it has obviously gotten harder and more time consuming.

Math Test

These are the scores for my math test. I feel like if I took this test again I could get better scores. I am proud of my score but feel I could have done better in some parts of the test. Somethings on the test were hard but others were very easy for me.

Math Pop Quizzes

This one of my math quizzes. I have really improved from my first quiz to my last one. On my first math quiz I got a 1 out of 4 but this one I got a 4 out of 4.  I feel like I have really improved in the pop quizzes. I have been practicing the problems we have been doing on the pop quizzes and some I feel like I can improve on.1446824722447.1 I am really proud of my improvement on the pop quizzes.

Xtramath Progress

1446822411797.1 (1)In math we have been working on a program called xtramath. It helps you with your multiplication. I only have one more problem to master and I have been practicing. I really would like to master the multiplication but I would really have to try my best.

IMG_1072This is one of the first math homework assignments this year. All my problems were crammed together and I had no room to show more work or edit the problems. Now that I have spread out my work I have room to add on and it is easier to check. It is important that I spread out my work and really focus instead of trying to fit each problem into a little box. In the future I hope I will continue to spread out my work because its important that I can edit.
