August 24th, 1349
Dear Fiona,
I’m still in England and everyone around me is dying. They have all told me that they have not sinned but they are still dying. Many of the servants that worked for my family have left us to go whip themselves in the streets. I think they call themselves flagellants. They think they are making themselves better but personally, I think they look worse. They go around and try to get people to join them. In the beginning many of our people said that this was a great idea. These days no one wants them around. We can all see that no one’s getting better from harming themselves. Most of the people that became flagellants died anyways from their sins before.
These days I feel not even the thick castle walls and strong guards surrounding me can protect my family. No one in my town wants to be a grave digger so everywhere you walk there are piles of dead bodies. It pays well but still, no one. I smell death around me. Whatever I write in this letter will not even compare to how bad it is here. How is France?
Near our home is pretty much a ghost town. The days I actually go outside the eeriness creeps up inside of me so I feel like I’ve sinned and done something wrong. Many of the people who died were farmers and all of their animals have been let out. They just wander around town and in the woods like I used to before this tragedy struck. Sometimes I fear that one day animals will take over what we have spent all this time building.
Mother always tells me that the doctors write to the pope every day but he always rejects their suggestions. She said that he says that it is a disgrace to God but they say that it is the only way to find out what has been happening for the past two years. These days I do not know what side to believe. What the doctors say doesn’t seem too far fetched but I don’t want God to hurt me.
I hope days are looking better for you in France.

This writing piece was really fun to write because I got to be a whole different person and that put me in a whole different mind set! I like this writing piece but I think that there is a lot I can improve on. I should try to be more detailed and I also could’ve made the closing better.
