Interconnectedness of Human Body Systems

In science we have been learning about human body systems. We just had a test on interconnectedness of human body systems. We made bubbles for each system and had to draw arrows to different systems to another of things that transfer through the system. Sometimes if you didn’t know where the part of the system came from you can draw a cloud. After drawing this stock and flow/bubble map I noticed how all the systems are so connected, and the circulatory connects to most of the systems. IMG_20160524_104045448

Structure Fits Function Science Project

Do you ever wonder how the heart does all those things fir your body? Do you ever wonder if the shape of you heart changes what it does? If your heart was shaped differently would it still do the same things or would it have different functions?

The heart is a muscle. The function of the heart is to pump blood and circulate it through the body. The structure helps the function because the heart is round so the veins that spread can go at any angle and any part of the body. Another reason is that it’s good that the heart is more at the top of your body than the bottom because it’s probably easier for blood to travel down than up. The heart is small so it is hard for it to be punctured and there are valves on the heart that make it easier to make blood flow through your body.

The heart is helpful to the brain because the brain needs a lot of blood and the heart is very close to the brain.

Science Behind Lunch

These are pie charts for 6B of what we eat at lunch. We looked at different websites and saw other pie charts, after looking at them we tried to change what we ate at lunch. Before was what we usually ate, and after was trying to eat how the online pie charts looked like. Some people tried to eat less of grain, or some people tried to eat more fruit, different people changed their diet based on what they usually ate.

My Atom Creation

Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 8.50.30 AMIn Science class we went on tinkercad and Dan told us to create what we thought an atom looked like so we did do that. I thought an atom would have four sides and each side would kind of look like a Galaxy. Something I enjoyed about making it was you kind of got to play with tinkercad and see what shapes there were. One challenging thing about it was when you looked at the atoms in different directions they looked different so I would keep on having to change how the atom was.
