Social Justice Interview Invisible Children

My group interviewed Emma Goldman, an intern located at Los Angeles. I learned that Joseph Koney has not been captured yet and that Invisible Children has expanded their mission since then and are now focusing on stopping multiple violent groups in Central Africa using rare natural resources to fund their violent activities. They are trying to broaden their goal into reducing the violence in Central Africa and bringing children home. She also told us to look up for more information on their website. She motivated our group to look into reaching out with amnesty groups in New York to do a hands on fieldwork. I want to remember the way that these violent groups are funding their activities and incorporate it into our fieldwork somehow. The next steps our group are going to take is going to be reaching out to other sources we have already found, and reaching out to local amnesty groups. She was very vague in our interview about what she was saying and didn’t really seem like she knew the details about what their group is actually doing to help, so I would like to investigate this with the next organization we contact.

Digital Art Poster

This digital art poster depicts a man with a fireball in his hand looking out into a street in Zagreb, Croatia. At the end of the street there is a house on fire and behind that there is a beautiful medieval countryside. There is also a mystical heavenly waterfall. The ground that the man is standing on is a puddle with rocks and grass from Tanzania, Africa. There is also a red Ferrari on fire. There is movement because your eye shifts from looking initially at the fireball, to the Ferrari, and then to the house, because of the fire and how far away the element is. There is also emphasis on those different elements created by the fire. There is balance because of the regular arrangement of the wisps of smoke. There is proportion and balance shown through how the person and the house are completely different sizes, but balanced to look as if the person is bigger, because of the perspective in distance.

Math Check Up 2

image

As you may have been able to tell, this is a math assignment. It is an assignment checking to see if we understand the concept of figure similarity. Figure congruency is when all of the corresponding angles are the same. Figure similarity is when you apply a scale factor to the sidelengths of the new figure it becomes the original figure. The first question is asking me which figures are similar. I figured his out by stating the scale factor, but I did so unclearly and at is what Michelle noted at. She also noted at how on the last one I did not state the conditions that made the figures similar.image

The next page had me draw a bunch of figured that fit certain conditions, such as a figure being similar to another but not congruent. I did these all by simply, drawing a figure that fit the conditions, just as it said as simple as that. I did this completely correct

Water Poem

Water

Water

The nectar of life

Clean and efficient

Delicious

My inspiration behind this poem is my love of water. I love water and I decided to make a poem about it.

My poem is a haiku.

It has line breaks, it is concise, and it has a clear beat.

I like this poem because it is very clean and efficient, like water. I think that I could improve it by using more descriptive language.

Style Composition

My style is dubstep. I chose my style because I like listening to dubstep and thought it would be cool to compose a piece in the style. My style has a lot of bass drops, random melodies, and loud fast drumbeats. It has been hard composing my piece because noteflight is not in my opinion, designed to handle dubstep. So I have been doing my best to make my piece sound like a decent dubstep piece with the resources that are available to me.

Discovery Day Reflection

One thing that I liked about our philosophy trip on discovery day was that I got to talk to a psychic. I have never done that before and it was very interesting talking to someone who believes that they have powers. I do not believe in psychics still but talking to her really opened up my mind to the world. On this trip I delved deeper into meditating and learned about the Buddha at a meditation center. It was very fascinating when we talked about different stages of the mind, an example would be conscious, subtle, and very subtle. After all of that I really want to learn more about meditating. It can help people relieve stress and problems in their life. I am curious to know about different types of meditation.

(P.S. The psychic read my mind! #ScaryAndAwesome)

Operation Manual

IMG_20150414_085638930

This is a food pyramid. It is part of one of my first pages of my operation manual. It goes from the most powerful species to the least powerful species. Zoom in for more details. The overall idea I am trying to convey on this page is that if you take too much or too little, everybody will suffer and the food economy system will crash. This is one of the many ideas to my operation manual of earth. It will teach people (and aliens) how to survive and thrive on earth, without everything going wrong. They are basically life lessons and scientific theories about what to do on earth to survive.

What I Have Been Learning In Mandarin

In the third quarter I have learned things like how to say the names of various school supplies, etc.  We also learned about Chinese New Year calligraphy. We practiced with wolf hair brushes and ink, on rice paper. We went into a 2nd grade classroom and gave them a tutorial about calligraphy. We talked about yáng, the character that means goat, sheep, or ram. Then we made them write it the same way we did previously. We also covered some basic sentences like, “Whose is this?” Or, “Is this your computer?”, etc.

Food Fight Character Talk

My strategy to build my population is to put in the prey of the ostrich’s prey. Then I add on more plants and if the opponent is there, put in its predators and deplete its prey. Then the ostrich will strike. I will keep consistently putting in plants and trying to trip up my opponent to build up a gradual victory. Sometimes I will put in a wild card if it effects my adversary. Also, when the ostrich isn’t in and i get the wild card drought, I will put it in because if the enemy is in the game, it will deplete their population.

So stay classy and have a food fight…

Spaceship Earth

Down there is my spaceship earth. It has 20 members and it will succeed in keeping a crew alive for 20 years. Although, it cannot carry 20 years worth of supplies. So, we have to cycle food, water, and oxygen. It is actually quite simple. For oxygen we put in a greenhouse since trees and plants provide oxygen. And for food we have a farm, which contains sheep, chickens, and crickets. Water was the hardest by far. We took three classes in order to completely figure it out. We had to create water purifiers, which work by evaporating liquid waste and collecting the pure water that forms on the top of the purifier.ADH5-graphsScreenshot 2015-02-06 at 10.09.19 AM
