Shabanu Blog Post: How To Make Chapatis By Shabanu
In case you do not know, chapatis is a flatbread that’s recipe has been passed down throughout generations of my family. Here is my family recipe and I hope you enjoy.
The first thing you have to do is go out to the field and gather some wheat.
After you get the wheat come back inside your hut and grind it with your hands or a stone. This will create flour.
Then what you will want to do is take your flour (preferably around two cups) and put it into a bowl.
Next you want to take the salt and the olive oil that your dadi got from the market yesterday.
After that you want to mix in a little salt into your flour.
Then you want to boil a pot of hot water onto the fire.
Next you want to slowly pour in the hot water and olive oil.
Then you want to knead it with your hands to make it elastic but not sticky.
After that you want to put it on the pan in thin circles. Cook until the underside has brown spots, about 30 seconds, then flip and cook on the other side.
Now you have made chapatis! Enjoy it with your family. It is quite yummy!
Phulan: “I haul on his is half born”page. Woah, Shabanu I have been doing this wrong this whole time. Remember when you birthed Mithoo. I was trying so hard to make a chaptis. Now I know what I did wrong I put one cup of flour instead of two. That’s why whenever I try to make chapatis it’s kind of wet. Thanks, I will try to make this now.
