Mathematical Similar summary
Figures are mathematically similar.
You can find that their shapes are similar by finding ratios, scale factor, or true proportion. For example if there are two line segments on the bottom of the triangle you would divide those two segments to find scale factor. You can find true proportion by using ratios with the ratios you cross multiply and each number you get should be the same as the other number you get by multiplying. You can find how shapes are similar with ratios by simplifying them and seeing if they are factors.
True or False
Any two Rectangles are similar. This is false because the line segments could be different lengths, for example a 4 by 7 rectangle can not o into a 8 by 15 rectangle.
Any two equilateral triangles are similar. This is true because equilateral triangles have similar side lengths which make similar angles.
