Litchfield is one of the most funnest places ever. I love it there. Litchfield is a sleep away jazz camp in New Milford Connecticut. It’s a pretty small camp only because I guess not that many kids like jazz enough to play all day until 9:00 at night. The camp also is a very free going camp. You get your own dorm room (you can also have a dorm buddy) and you can also walk to the lunch hall to get food anytime you want but we also have vending machines in the common room of your dorm house. Usually the weekends are really fun too because we are aloud to go into town with our friends and we can go get something to eat or catch a movie at the movie theater. And in the summer they usually hold a festival in town.
The schedule: So first you wake up, and again this camp is a very independent camp so you also have to wake yourself up. After you get ready you have to go out and have breakfast in the lunch hall and then when you finish you can basically do whatever you want around the campus until morning meeting in the Maguire Auditorium. For morning meeting it’s basically like ear training and then joke of the day (which is like a joke about an instrument, kinda jokes that musicians would get). Then after that you get combos which is you meet with your combo group and play songs and stuff for the concert that we have at the end of the week on Friday. After combos you go to Music theory class which is kinda boring but fun still. And then you go to lunch. Lunch is fun you basically go walk to the lunch hall with your friends and go have lunch. You can also have lunch outside too. After lunch you can do whatever you want again. You can go back to your dorm room and take a nap or hang out. I usually walked around campus and played Frisbee with my friends. After the break we have combos again and then after combos we have master classes which is basically having a class with everyone with the same instrument as you. After that we would have electives which were kinda like extra classes (Brazilian ensemble, drumming, R&B) and I took drumming which was pretty funny and fun. And after that we would have dinner then after dinner we would have free time again and/or a time to practice. Me and my friends would sometimes wander around campus and sometimes we would have jam sessions. Then after that we would have faculty concerts where the faculty would perform for us every night in the auditorium. Then we would have free time again so sometimes I would play Frisbee but this time in the dark and/or I would go practice again with my friends. Then after that we would go into our dorms sometimes we would have pizza and watch movies and stuff and buy all the snacks out of the vending machines and then we would go to bed.
