Reflection on Ashokan
I am reflecting on the fifth and sixth grade trip to Ashokan.I had a wonderful time there. We went on a hike that took us to an old wishing bridge. Some wishes came true! Next the hike took us up the old deer trail which is almost vertical. It is very steep and hard to climb. Finally the hike took us back to the supper hall for dinner. We went down to the open rec field and were taught games like kitty wants a corner, screaming toes, alaskan baseball, and code breaker. Most people loved kitty wants a corner. Code breaker was very hard. We took some nets down to a pond for aquatic ecology and we looked for bugs and water beings that would signal that the pond was in good condition. Sadly, it wasn’t. We went bird watching. We saw a bird show in the rec hall. We played Simon Says. We had a trivia contest. We got to vote on weather the so called “Lyle Lanley” was making us a good offer when he told us to turn old, historical, educational stuff into a big stupid pot of money! Most groups very angrily said NO! Lyle was actualy a counselor. We tried to have zero waste at every meal. The closest we got was one and a half pounds of solid and liquid. Here is a picture of a group on a nature hike.
