What I want for the planner
I think that maybe the planners should have a few pictures on the covers. Somewhere there should be a draw it yourself page. A lot of people would like that. I think that there should be less pictures and more room for being ourselves. We should be able to show who we are in drawings, so there should totally be a doodle cover. I think that it should be more about homework than about pictures of silly things that may or may not be appropriate! We put so much work into them being funny that we did not pay enough attention to the actual homework part of it. We could have done a lot better with that. Now, on a less critical note, I think that we did really well with getting them done on time with no last minute screw ups. So, we did pretty well.
Imagine the Future
I was excited for dessert. I also wondered if we could handle it. I am proud that we could. I was nervous about Ashoken. I felt better when I realized how fun it was. I am nervous for the Egyptian Tomb. I would feel a little less nervous if I was not reading books where there are freaky Egyptian curses. The magic kind. I have not yet done a play. I am excited because I love acting, singing, and dancing.
My number puzzle
My number is lower than 20. My number is a factor of 30.
My number can make only a one tile wide rectangle. My number is odd.
What is my number?
History Index Cards
In the picture below, the students are asked to put index cards into chronological order. To describe this, I would say that it was not super difficult, but it was not easy. There was much debating. That was about where what went. This was overall rather fun, and helps us understand a little more. When my group was doing it, we did not have many problems. Mostly talking it all out. We had a few minor mess ups, but we did pretty well. Though sometimes, we had to show our teammates why their idea made no sense. For example, we thought coal came after the Permian Extinction. We also thought that bony fish came after land animals. Silly us! But when we did correct each other, we did i nicely, of course. From doing this, I learned the order of events a little better. There was almost no supervision. We had to do it ourselves. I must say, we did pretty well. Everyone did.
My vision of an Atom
Below is what I imagine an atom to look like. I don’t know why I think of an atom this way, but when I think about them, I imagine them like this. I imagine them with rings. I imagine them with a hoop to rest in. I imagine that there are many atoms surrounding every atom. This was hard at first. But it got easier. The hardest part was getting stuff in it’s place. The rings had to be copied and pasted to get enough. The green hoops were never where they were supposed to be. The real blue atoms were constantly out of their hoops. And worst of all, during the copying and pasting, my laptop kept glitching! But I fixed it. Any questions?
Math graphing observations
In this picture, you will notice many different graphs. Now, as good as they may seem, none are perfectly accurate. Some have stops that do not fit the story. Some have sprinting instead of speed-walking. All have their own different faults. I will not specify people’s graphs, but there are many worth commenting on. The graph on the top right of section B, for example. At the end, it barely slowed. In the beginning, it sprinted instead of walking. The bottom left in B, has some problems too. The beginning makes it look like it starts at 5 meters. Well, when you don’t inspect it closely, that is. The top right on C goes even further in meters, than in seconds. The top left on B stops at three fourths of the way to the end. It was only supposed to go halfway. I will not blame anyone because it is not really their fault. Perfect graphing is not an overnight skill. All the graphs could be better. But as I said, you can’t blame them. By the way, you may have to scroll over to see the whole picture.
New Planner Idea
Today, in D-Lab, we came up with ideas for new homework planners. I would like to present my group’s best suggestion. The idea is to shape the new planner like an I-Phone. Instead of having “Samsung” or “AT&T” at the top, it would say ‘Homework’. Instead of having colorful apps, the subjects would occupy the app squares. Then you could fill in your homework in the correct “App”. This really is a coincidence though, because I am writing about homework, for homework! Anyway, thank you for listening. I hope you will consider my offer.
