Ashokan Thesis Statement
The best thing about the Ashokan trip was the ropes course because it wasn’t too scary, the zipline was really fun and watching the people go ropes course. I am afraid of heights so I don’t like ropes courses to be too high up, this one was really low but difficult on one part. When I went to camp I went on a zipline, I was really scared to go on but I tried it and it was really fun. The zipline at Ashokan wasn’t as big as the one at camp, but it still was a lot of fun. I liked watching people go on the ropes course because it was really funny seeing people doing funny things on the ropes course.
The worst part of the Ashokan trip was the canoeing because I kept on bumping into rocks and pieces of land, rowing the wrong way and kept on bumping into people or getting bumped. I was the last one to chose a boat so we were behind everyone. Once we got in everyone was already on an adventure under the wooden bridge. Me and my partner were rowing two different ways so we kept on bumping into things. We kept on going the way we did not want to go, I was going forwards and my partner was going backwards, or the other way around. We were in the middle of everyone and interrupted their races but we just couldn’t get out of their races.

What I Learned This Year
This year in 6th grade, we read a book called Beowulf. It is about a hero who comes to help fight an evil monster who is bothering the king, Hrothgar. Soon we started making Beowulf projects. There are a bunch of different characters and places in Beowulf. My project is drawing Beowulf. We are learning about the medieval times so we also learned about hierarchies. There is a chart that shows the rank of the people in a town in the medieval times, it’s called a Feudal Chart. Feudalism means, the political system that flourished in Europe from the 11th-15th centuries. It was a hierarchical system that divided people by rank. We learned that God is the highest rank, then the Monarchs, Nobles (Lords and Ladies) and Knights. Anyone under the Knights are not royal, but anyone from the Knights and up are royal. Next are the Freeman/woman, Peasants and Serfs. Serfs are the poorest of them all they are at the very bottom of the Feudal Chart.

End of Summer Post
I went to summer camp this year called Hidden Valley Camp. I really liked it but it ended too quick. On the last day of camp we have pine grove. Everyone walks up a hill in silence to get to a special place in the woods, pine grove. Each cabin does something like sing a song or make something up. Then, cabin by cabin gets a candle and walks down the row of people and they blow out their candle if they want to hug someone. At the beginning I was fine but I started to cry, I didn’t think I was going to cry but I did. Most people in my cabin were crying too. I am definitely coming back next year.

Llama and Alpaca Care
This year I went to camp for two weeks for summer camp called Hidden Valley or HVC in Maine. I was not sure if I would like it but I loved it. My favorite class was llama and alpaca care. There were llamas alpacas at camp because they were here before the owners Peter and Meg bought the camp. We took llamas on hikes and brushed them. We went on a hike up teepee hill to teepee village, (teepee hill is the hill that goes up to teepee village, teepee village is on top of a hill with teepee’s for campers to live in for 5 days if they want to) to play mafia. I collected the llamas hair by brushing the llamas to bring home for my sister. I loved that class and I want to do that class next year.

Summer 1 The Blue Lady
It was my Aunt’s birthday so we went to the beach to celebrate it. After that we went to the Moss Beach Distillery to have dinner at. Once we got there it didn’t look like a restaurant. It sat on the edge of the cliff in front of the ocean. There was wide steps up to the door. When we went in it looked a lot bigger than we thought. When we sat down we saw a story about the blue lady. The blue lady was a ghost that lived in the restaurant. My cousins and I were curious about the blue lady so we asked the lady at the front door if she was real. The lady said that the blue lady was real. She said that the blue lady pulled her hair and all of the beepers went off when they were charging and she said that the beepers should only go off when they are out of their chargers. She took one out of the charger and showed us. It started beeping quietly on the table. Later my sister and my cousin were pulling everyone’s hair. When we were coming home we were talking about the blue lady the whole car ride back. When we got back my mom told us that maybe our old stuffed animal that we lost on a beach turned into the blue lady. After she told us that we all clung on to each other frightened.
