Mandarin Sports
In mandarin this quarter we are learning sports, and who likes and dislikes what sport. This page is people asking their friends what sports the like and dislike. My favorite sport is running and my least favorite sport is football. This is how you write it in Chinese, 我最喜欢跑步。 我最不喜欢提橄榄球。That means, my favorite sport is running. My least favorite sport is football. I don’t think I am having trouble with mandarin overall but I haven’t remembered that many characters.

My Improved Soundtrap Piece
We have been working on soundtrap to make our pieces this year. We have been working on it since quarter one to quarter two. I think I have been doing okay in music. I haven’t made that much progress since quarter one though.

Wire Sculptures
In art we are making five wire sculptures. We chose a movement and broke it up into five pictures. Once we are done with that we use a fifteen feet wire to bend to make our selves. I think that wire sculptures are really fun to make, but I need help with the proportions.

Dividing Decimals
In quarter two we learned how to divide decimals. This is one of the problems we did for practice. Dividing decimals is just like normal dividing. Except you have to move the decimal spaces or a space. For this problem you have to move the decimal point once. Which makes it at the end of nine. But the decimal point has to be in the inside number (29.3600). Even though there is already a decimal point inside you have to move that one once. Then it is behind the three. After you move the decimal point you can just divide the number. I didn’t have trouble with dividing decimals but I got a little confused for where to put the decimal point at first.

My Parzival Essay
This year, in the second quarter we wrote Parzival Essays, after the book Parzival by Katherine Paterson. I had trouble with writing the essay because I didn’t understand the ending of Parzival. I had trouble writing the thesis statement and the conclusion and transition sentences as well. At first I didn’t understand the conclusion and transition but I started to understand them. I think the best I did in was my evidence and explanation.
This is my Parzival Essay…
If you chose your own path in life, you can get to be who you want to be. In the book Parzival by Katherine Paterson, a young knight called Parzival learned about heaven, God and much more on his way to become king. If Parzival didn’t use his free will he wouldn’t be where he is. It’s about how a beginner knight began his journey just learning about heaven, God and many more, becomes king. Parzival’s free will led him to become king because he was courageous, kindhearted, and wise. Parzival showed courage when he walked into a stranger’s mysterious home not knowing what was awaiting him. Parzival’s free will led him to become king because he was courageous, kindhearted, and wise.
On page 48 it said, “The fisherman looked up into the young man’s face and then said slowly, as though he were in great pain or sorrow, There is no place a day’s ride from here except that great castle you have just passed.” In the forest Parzival saw the Angler, and asked where shelter was. The Angler told him that he could stay at the giant castle at the top of the mountain, only if Parzival would tell the pages that he was sent by the Angler. When he arrived he told the depressing faces of the pages that he was sent by the Angler. Right after he said that word the huge iron gates flew open. This shows that Parzival went into this stranger’s home not knowing that he was going to see the grail.
Parzival had bravery when he passed into the doors of Wild Mountain, but was also considerate to help people in need. Parzival is kindhearted because he helped Condwiramurs and her city get food. “Now Parzival remembered Gurnemanz’s teaching that a knight’s duty was to help those in need, so he said, “I have to come for nothing but to offer help to the king and people of this city.” pg 35. “Then he carefully parceled out all the food, so that no one would have too little or too much.” pg 41. Parzival chose to help the people in the city because he saw that all the people, even the nobles were weak and pale. This shows that Parzival is selfless because he saw that the people needed food so he lent them help. Parzival is showing how he is kind because he gave his help to the people.
Parzival is wise to ask a question at Wild Mountain because the hermit told him that he should go back and ask the question. He chose to ask a question at wild mountain, to the king. “For a week or more, Parzival stayed there with Trevrizent, learning more of the mercy of God and the depths of his love. He was happy to share the roots and herbs that the hermit ate. He still did not know the way to Wild Mountain when he rode forth from that holy cave, but his heart was cleansed and full of hope.” pg 110-111. When Parzival first went to wild mountain he ate at a giant table with a great feast, bathed in warm water with sweet smelling oils, and dressed in a robe made of Arabic gold. But there was no smiling, laughing, of happiness. Everyone there was waiting for Parzival to ask a question. Now he is heading back to wild mountain to ask the question. This shows that Parzival is wise because he learned many things from the hermit and experienced the many things that he had gone through, for example feeding the city from little food, meeting his sister, and seeing the grail. Parzival learned lots of things from the hermit, Gurnemanz, and all different kinds of things from his journey.
Parzival’s journey helped him get to where he is now. If Parzival never learned how to use his own free will he would be following whatever someone tells him to do. Now everyone admires and looks up to Parzival because of what he’s done. If Parzival never had asked the question to Arthur by his own free will he wouldn’t be a monarch. Even a simple act of turning the lights off can help global warming.

Pop Quiz Test
This is my pop quiz test, this one I didn’t do good on. I got a one, I am still working on my cross simplifying and multiplacation. I’ve been working hard on math but I think I could practice it more. I think I need to practice Xtramath when I finish Xtramath. I think I might need some extra math practice sheets.

In this quiz I don’t think I got such a good grade. I think I have to work on my multiplacation facts. Next time we have a quiz I’m going to try harder and work on my multiplacation before the quiz.
