Dream

Chapter One

I am in a dark valley. There is not much color. I wish things had more color in it here. It’s like I’m in a book with black and white pictures. How do I get out of here? Am I dreaming?

Suddenly I hear a swoosh close to me and all the flowers in the valley shake. It’s like the wind is going on a path breaking the flowers in its way. Soon I see all the flowers broken except for a small circle of them around me. The wind starts to let up. Just for a moment a big blue tail with green spots flicks by. It is way too big to be a bird’s tail and I’ve never seen an animal with that pattern before. It does not look like it could be some kind of animal. I keep on looking at that spot where the tail flicked. I fall silent. But nothing is happening, I relax. All of a sudden I hear a noise behind me. I spin around and I am face to face with a monster.

It has two long sharp teeth sticking out on each side of its mouth. Steam is puffing out of its nostrils. It feels hot blowing against my face. I scream and turn to run, but I’m not moving! I turn back around. Its huge yellow eyes are slowly blinking at me as if it wants to eat me. I start yelling, “This is dream! This is a dream! This is a dream!”

Suddenly I feel like a rattle being shaken. I hear three voices I recognize. I open my eyes and I see my parents and my brother looking down at me. “You were screaming in your sleep again!” my brother says.

“I was?” I say. My mom and dad don’t say anything. They have worried faces. “What?” I say.

My mom sighs, “Nothing.”

“Just go back to bed. Let her sleep,” says my dad.

They leave and I go back to sleep.

Chapter Two

“Good morning class,” says my teacher.

“Good morning!” everyone says.

I feel like I’m about to burst! I can’t wait to tell all my friends about my dream! They always tell me about their dreams. Finally I have a dream to tell them! I don’t think I can wait until lunch or recess to tell them!

“Science is going to be five minutes late today, so you can have a few minutes to chat,” says my teacher.

Yes! I call my friends over. They gather around me. “I finally have a dream to tell you! I had a crazy dream last night! I couldn’t move in it! Everything was black and white and there was a giant monster that was trying to eat me! I was trying to run but I couldn’t move! It was so scary!” I say to my friends.

“Really? That’s so scary!” they say.

Everyone is asking me about my dream all at once! They are so interested in it! I like telling them about it. They don’t seem scared and that makes me feel less scared.

When I get home, I tell my family my dream at dinner. My brother thinks it was amazing, and my parents look bad for me.

When I get into bed I hope that I will have another dream so I can share it with my friends again. Everyone loves my dreams! Maybe today’s dream will be less scary!

Chapter Three

I look around. This place seems very familiar. Have I been here before? No, I don’t think so. I am in a small town, all black and white. Then I hear a voice. “Hi, are you new here? I’ve never seen you around.” Says the old lady sitting down on one of the benches.

Suddenly I see a big blue tail with green spots flick by. I remember this tail. It’s a monsters tail! “Monster!” I shout. I start running away. I want to get away from here as fast as I could. “This is a dream!” I shouted. Last time I couldn’t move when the monster was in my face. I hope that doesn’t happen to me this time.

The Old Lady’s Perspective

“That little girl over there running, shouted monster!” I tell the woman who owns the hat shop.

“That’s terrible! A monster! The last time we had a monster come was about 20-25 years ago. I’ll tell everyone about it!” Says the lady at the hat shop.

“Ok, please do. I’ll go tell everyone at the fish shop next door.” I say.

“Ok.” says the lady at the hat shop.

I go next door to the fish shop. “A girl just told me that there is a monster coming!” I tell the man at the fish shop.

“I think you should go to the blacksmith” Says the man at the fish shop.

“Ok, I’ll go.” I say.

I start walking to the blacksmith’s shop. The blacksmith does not live very far away but not so close too. Finally I got there. “Hello? Is anyone home?” I call, knocking on the door.

“Yes? What do you want?” Says the blacksmith in a annoyed attitude.

“I came to tell you to make weapons…” I say, but the blacksmith cut me off.

“Why do you want weapons?” Say’s the blacksmith.

“I was just about to tell you. It is because a girl I met saw a monster near by and she told me. But she just went running off.” I told him.

“A monster? Not again. I better get to work.” Says the blacksmith getting out his tools.

“Ok please do. I have to go now and tell everyone else about this monster.” I tell him.

“Alright.” Says the blacksmith.

Chapter Four

(Back to the girls perspective)

I wake up. My face under my covers. I sighed. I knew it was a dream! I pop my face over my covers and I see a shining light on the floor. Is this another dream? I slap myself. “Ouch!” I say quietly. I guess this is not a dream. But how is there a light? I look down on the floor. The light was coming out of my brothers toys. The toy is starting to get bigger! Wait… That looks familiar. Is that the monster from my dreams?

I am screaming as loud as I can and tears are coming out of my eyes. I hear my brother getting out of his bed in the room next to mine.

“Hello. I’m really not as bad as you think I am.” Says the monster.

I start to burst into tears. “Go away…” I say trembling.

“I’m not bad. I might be scary but not bad. I won’t hurt you.” says the monster

I keep silent. “Mom! Dad!” I shout.

“Don’t worry I just have to tell you something. It’ll be quick. Remember, back in your dream? You shouted monster! Everyone is looking for me and getting ready to battle me. Tomorrow, in your dream, please tell them not to go after me. Don’t tell your parents, they are going to try to get me now. I have to go now but you have to trust me.” Says the monster.

“Ok…” I say quietly. I go back to sleep. The monster starts to light and it turns back into my brothers toy.

Chapter Five

At lunch I feel the same feeling I felt like yesterday morning. I got to tell my friends my dream, but I don’t want to scare them. “Hi!” I say.

“Why are you so excited?” Says one of my friends.

“Because I have another dream to tell you! Well half dream and half real.” I say.

“Really? Tell us tell us!” They say together.

“Ok.” I say. I explain the whole story to them.

“What’s the real part?” My friend says.

“I saw the monster from my dream! I saw a light coming out of my brothers toy and it turned big! I was so scared but it was a nice monster. I barely talked to it.” I say.

“Really? That’s not funny. Sorry.” One of my friends say.

“But it was real!” I tell them.

“No. Its not.” Says my friend.

“I am positive I saw a monster! I saw it with my own eyes and you did not!” I say.

“Really? You believe in monsters?” One of my classmates say.

“Yes and they are real!” I say.

“Then prove it!” My friends say.

“Ok, I’ll prove it!” I tell them.

“We’ll meet behind the school tomorrow.” Says my friend.

“Ok.” I say.

Later at home… I sit in my room thinking about how I am going to prove it to them. But I also have to save the monster in my dream! I got the perfect plan! I pick up the monster and tell it, “If I save you, you have to come to my school. Deal?”

I hear a voice coming out of it. “Deal.” Says the monster.

All I have to do now is wait for tonight.

Chapter Six

I am back. I have to hurry and find the old lady. I run around the town trying to find her. Suddenly I see the back of her straw hat. “Umm… Hello?” I tap her on the shoulder.

“Yes?” She says.

“You know that monster, uh. Its really not bad. I’ve met it. So please stop this search.” I tell her.

“What? You’re saying that this monster is really not bad? You ran away screaming.” Said the old lady.

I tell her, “Please stop your search for it. It will not attack. It told me to stop this. If you stop this search for it, it will not attack your town.”

“Really? I believe you.” Says the old lady

“Thank you!” I tell her

“I’ll tell everybody to stop the search.” Says the old lady.

“Thank you! Bye!” I tell her running off. I have to tell the monster! I see the blue tail with yellow dots in the sky. I think it knows I helped him. He will help me too I hope.

Chapter Seven

I wake up. It’s morning. The sun is shining on me. I pick up the monster. “Please turn to life today, today I will prove everyone that you are real. I head downstairs with the monster clutched in my hands. I tuck it into my pocket.

Later after school… “You told us that you were going to show us that monster of yours here, behind the school.” Says one of my friends.

“I know, look.” I say, I reach into my pocket and show them the monster.

“Thats just a toy. I think you might have problems.” Said one of my friends, sorry for me.

“No, I don’t have problems. Look closely.” I say. But I really hope that he turns real.

The monster starts to glow. I placed it on the floor. The toy got bigger and bigger. Then the light went away and the blue monster with the green dots came.

My friends ran away into the corner of the wall.

“Don’t worry, its not bad.” I say. My friends are speechless.

“Hello? I’m not as bad as you think I am. I won’t try to eat you.” Says the monster.

“Uh… You’re right. Its real.” Says one of my friends frightened.

I see one of my classmates come around the corner. She was the one who came up to me while I was telling my friends about my dream.

“So. It really is real.” She says embarrassed.

“Yes, you don’t seem scared.” I say.

“I’m not scared. I told everyone else in the class to come back here at the end of the day when our teacher left the classroom. I uh thought that everyone wouldn’t believe you, so I told them to come.” She says.

“Why? I am real.” Says the monster.

“Hi! A monster? It’s real! Do not go!” Says one of my classmates running off telling everyone.“We believe you.” Say my friends together.
