Bibliography:

Earthsea Annotated Bibliography

Schedule:

Monday Reading/writing for essay, painting
Tuesday At school: meeting with James, painting, & advisory
Wednesday Reading/writing for essay, volunteering at Ansche Chesed Hebrew School
Thursday Reading/writing for essay, painting
Friday Reading/writing for essay, painting

I might come into school on Monday, Thursday, or Friday, though I do not have a formal plan and will not do so every day every week. Every day I will do some combination of painting, reading, or writing, not necessarily all of them every day.

Documentation:

I plan to keep a document where I will write about my progress on my essay and paintings as well as my experiences at the Hebrew school. My digital journal will have entries documenting any difficulties I encounter in writing my essay. I will also do some organizational work in it, organizing my thoughts as I figure out my questions, theses, and main focuses for my essay.

Material Needs:

I have already emailed James and told him the materials I need, which includes acrylic paint and canvases. I have already received the Earthsea books, and I have found and scanned a copy of Earthsea Revisioned by Ursula K Le Guin. I still need the essay “Reinventing the Past: Gender in Ursula Le Guin’s Tehanu and the Earthsea ‘Trilogy’” by Perry Nodelman.

Backup Plan:

If I am unable to receive the Nodelman essay that I do not yet have, I can still write my essay; I will not have Nodelman’s opinions, but thus far from what I can tell I don’t agree with Nodelman and I think I understand the gist of what he believes. The other four academic essays about Earthsea that I do have access to will be sufficient criticism of Earthsea for me to gain understanding of it in an academic and scholarly manner. In addition, if for some reason I am unable to receive paint and canvases from James, I do have some paint and some small canvases that I can use and I can buy other materials if I need to.
