My first two weeks have been operating a bit differently than my last two weeks. The beginning part of my project was emphasizing my work with Illusion Hills, especially since they had a release on April 11. However, since then, things have quieted down and I have had less work to do. I have written a press release for the next song, expected to be released in June, while reaching out and talking on the phone with the manager of the artist featured. We also have begun working with a new distribution company called Sparta Distribution which I am very excited for. It will have a huge impact on the success of our release, and while this last one has done very well, Sparta will provide a huge boost.
Beyond Illusion Hills, I have been able to work on a lot more writing. I have written two album reviews in the last 10 days, something I have never done before. This is partially because two phenomenal albums were released, and partially because I’ve had a lot more time than before. My first one was about the Omar Apollo album, Ivory, which is currently my favorite album of the year. I could rave on and on about it for hours. The second one was redveil’s learn 2 swim, an incredibly cohesive and mature album from someone who is just 19 days older than me! In this time I have also written two Freddie’s Finds, highlighting a mix of my favorite small and big artists, as well as two articles on singles from a couple artists I love right now – Buppy. and mynameisntjmack. This week is shaping up to have a lot of new music, including an EP from THE BLSSM that I can’t wait to dive into.
I was anticipating my project being a bit more balanced in terms of when the workloads would come for each part, however I am enjoying the way it is shaping up. I am loving absolutely everything I have been doing and very excited for what is to come. A lot of new questions come up everyday from the management side because I am learning a lot as I go, so I am constantly soaking up new information. My goals have remained the same for the most part – keep doing what I love and help those around me achieve their dreams. Everything that I’m involved in has so much to come and lots of exciting things across the rest of the year and I can’t wait for it all.
Another part I wasn’t expecting was how much time baseball would take up, and how much I would enjoy it. I am having a lot of fun playing on the team regardless of what my results may be. Playing at MCU Park on Coney Island was an incredible experience, one that I hope we will experience again in the championship game.
