Critical Reflection #2

One of our essential questions asks what we can predict for the future of new york. Walking around Greenwich Village gave me a profound sense of what can be accomplished from political and financial influence. The lack of change that the neighborhood has undergone is remarkable and unlike other neighborhoods we have visited. While the neighborhood appears similar to how it did in the 1930s, it is not necessarily a good example of the future of the city. Preservation is at odds with development, so it is interesting to see how drastically Greenwich Village has defied development. GV is very wealthy, and the preservation society also has a lot of political influence. Taking photos in the neighborhood showed me that money and power dictate how an area changes, which is a large part of my essential question.
