For my senior project documentation, I’ve decided to use Mood Boards to display the photos I’ve taken in that week. In the Mood Boards, I include pictures from the specific location(s) I visited and what caught my eye while on my journey to and from the location(s). My first visit this week was to the 14th street subway station to capture the “Life Underground” statues created by Tom Otterness. When creating his “Life Underground” mini statues, Tom Otterness’ goal was to tell the story of the NYC Subway and offer a unique conversation starter for commuters. His statues show the relationship between class and money and bring what’s going on aboveground underground. His figures have 5 character types: blue-collar workers, white-collar workers, radicals and urban myths, rich people, and cops.
