Charlie: Proposal Pitch

Essential Question: In the ever-evolving creative world, how can I push forward my skills in order to execute my work to the level of my imagination?  In addition to learning new skills, how can I explore other interests such as music in conjunction with this work?

I plan to take a course in Adobe After Effects, an application that allows the user to create 3-dimensional and moving imagery, there for expanding the possibilities of my creation. It will be an online course (still searching for a specific one that would work best for me and this scenario).

After I finish the course I will have the skills necessary to start the next part of my project, a more self-guided portion. With that time I would like to use those skills in animation to visualize a song that I have written, the final project being a music video.

This project serves as an exploration of my interests by trying new things in a worthwhile way. But it will definitely not be an easy project, as learning to use these applications well is challenging, but essential. It will also be an important step in discovering what I am especially interested in and if I really enjoy doing this work it could potentially influence my career in the future.

Although challenging, once I have succeeded in learning these new skills and am able to create the way I want to, my work will have paid off and that will be extremely rewarding.

This project is very much a self lead one outside of the course that I will take, but it would definitely be helpful to have James there to consult on any creative ideas that I am working on.

With all senior projects, it is important to stay on track, and mine is no different. In order to be my best self through this project, I need to map out what and when I will do things and make sure to stay with that schedule.

This project serves as an important end to my experience at LREI as it is a self-led project that revolves around passion and learning new skills, two ideas that fall in line with the mission statement. In addition, the project reflects the 4Cs, with the learning process involving critical thinking and courage to try new things, creativity in the product that I create, and citizenship in the things these skills will allow me to do for my community in the future.
