I talked to my advisor Karyn about the revisions for my senior project plan.
Goal: To find happiness within baking and developing healthy recipes, and looking at ways to combat food insecurity.
I want to make healthier baked goods that I can potentially distribute at senior class events or to homeless people directly on the streets. Then create a blog for those recipes and more sustainable/easy recipes to combat food insecurity. I will research what ingredients can be found at stores such as bodegas and dollar stores. This is so that I can find what is feasible for families in poverty to cook or bake for themselves (if they can). I would still try to create at least 3 new recipes a week, which includes at least 3 blog posts each week. Ideally I would also try to volunteer at The Bowery Mission at least once a week as well, to help distribute pre-packaged meals/snacks to people in need.
This is much stronger! Before you pitch, do some thinking about how you will organize the blog — how can you make it genuinely helpful? What research might you want to do this trimester after the pitch? I also suggest adding more volunteer hours, perhaps at a second location — I believe we have a long-standing relationship with the St. John’s food pantry — if at all possible; I believe you will find that deeply meaningful and more connection with the audience you are trying to serve with the blog will only improve your ability to do so.
