CR #1 – Yannik F.

Assignment: As Confucius said “True wisdom is knowing what you don’t know” and Socrates said “Wisdom is knowing what you don’t know.” This assignment is asking for the story of your personal search for information, as well as what you are learning about the topic in terms of what do you know vs what don’t you know.

For as long as I can remember photography has been a part of my life. From my dad taking his camera with him everywhere to my mom as the photography director at NYMAG, I have been exposed to images that tell stories. This has provided me with background knowledge on what I think I should look for when putting together a portfolio of photos.

I took a photography course at Oxford College during the summer of 2019 where I learned the basics of how to use my camera and capture a photo. I hope to understand how to properly apply the functions of my camera to benefit me in whatever situation I encounter. This will hopefully allow me to capture a pleasing image. My goal for this project is to photograph and put together a compilation of images that please the eye and transport the viewer to that location. Developing a photographer’s eye is an essential part of this project for me.
