Solomon Karpati Critical Reflection #6

During the past six weeks I have learned a lot that I didn’t think I would know by the end of this process. For one my process became less about painting, and more about the process of becoming an artist and what that entails. One of the challenges that held me back the most was simply scheduling. Because of conflicting times and difficulty travelling, it became very hard to get out of the city when I wanted to, and even harder to work diligently when that time came. From the beginning my project was a challenge to create, pitch, and execute, but despite that I am still very happy with where I am. I think that this year’s projects will be very different from other years, for some obvious reasons, and some less obvious ones.  During this project I explored my relationship with independence, focus, and motivation. I stick by the fact that this was a successful exploration of those themes. I don’t believe that I ever had a specific end in sight, or even a final goal. The way that I see it, this project was about doing what I wanted to, with the challenges in my path, and specifically how that changes when you explore an artistic process.
