Caleb Kohn-Blank – Critical Reflection #5

I think I’ve learned a lot about my work habits through this project. One thing I’ve discovered is my own schedule that works best for me. While I usually feel good about myself when I get up early and get to work, with my sleep schedule I tend to wake up a little later in the day. This led me to fall into the cycle of starting work at around 12:30 and worked to 6:30 with a break somewhere in the middle, then working after dinner until I go to bed. Working at these times allows me to get a lot of work done while still feeling well-rested and like I’ve used my day well. Process-wise, I think I’ve gotten to the point where I understand how every part of my project works. I’ve found out how all files should be orientated to print properly and I know all the dimensions for my cards and how I should cut them.

Circling back to my essential question, while I think I’ve learned a lot I find myself struggling to put it all into work and actually answer the question. I think that the question that I presented was a little too broad to be answered and I think that making it hard for me to put my thoughts together. Hopefully though, as I finish my project the final pieces will come together and I might be able to answer the question with the information I don’t have now.

  1. Caleb, it’s interesting to consider how often a schedule is imposed on us. Obviously, this makes sense when the efforts of a group of people need to be coordinated. That said, there is real value in knowing what works best for you and then when you have to work within some other schedule you can then try to find the most optimal way to align those schedules together so that you can make your best contribution to the work. Alternatively, you can also try to push the group schedule into your personal schedule (i.e., maybe there are a critical mass of folks on the team whose personal schedules are more like yours.).

With regard to the essential question, maybe this is a good moment to revise it so that it better aligns with the experience and your related insights.
