I have at this point really settled into a method and way of working that works for me. I usually sit down at my computer on our kitchen table and work from about 9:30 to 11. At 11 I take my dog out for a walk and have a snack. Then I work until about 1:30. Then I have lunch for an hour or so and then try to work until at least 5 in the evening. This allows me to work about six hours a day so that I can meet my hourly requirements as well as to make enough advancements in my translation progress. Breaking the day up by stepping away from my work has been helping me stay on task when I need to, and having a set time to start and stop gives me a sense of rhythm and routine. I discovered that working at the table is perfect because it isn’t so comfortable that I want to veg out like my bed, but it isn’t as uncomfortable as my desk so I don’t get tired either.
These next couple weeks will be looking different schedule-wise since I have finished the first draft of the translation and will be spending my time editing, taking care of translator’s notes, and working on a final reflective essay that will address my experience overall as well as my essential question.
