What have you discovered about your process, your habits?
I have discovered that my senior project schedule is much more difficult to work out than I anticipated. When I was preparing to start 3rd trimester I thought that I would be able to work on my project every day, and I didn’t think about everything that I had to do besides my school work. I also didn’t realize how the world and my own life around me would impact my project. For example, one of my relatives has recently died in India due to the high rates of covid in that country. Working on my project can sometimes remind me of my family and how the country they live in has changed so much since my comic took place. I also feel like I should have budgeted in unexpected but not rare occurrences that happen in my life, as since I got sick a few days ago I have felt behind on my project. Trying to rest while I am sick is difficult because I feel obligated to work at home instead of trying to get better. I think that I work the best at home, but at the same time, it is harder to focus. What has helped me get around this is planning out times when I am going to work and when I am going to take a break. I think that drawing is much more time-consuming than I originally thought. My goal of making my comic detailed also contributes to how long it takes to get it done.
Now, what do you know you don’t know? Circle back to your essential question.
Right now I am trying to figure out how to deal with the change in scale from my sketches to my bristol board. I am unsure how to scale up my original drawings enough that they will still look good on my final comic. I am excited to learn how to ink, as I have never inked anything in before. I don’t know all of the text bubbles I am going to use in my work yet, or what the title of my comic will be.
