When I started my senior project, I was extremely unorganized. I didn’t plan out my days and I would only decide what to cook when I woke up. This approach left me with many challenges in my first week. Multiple times wasn’t able to find Greek specialty ingredients for my recipes. I also ran into the problem of starting to cook way too late in the day because I underestimated cooking times. Part of the reason for this is that Ive never done a project like the senior project. I had to motivate myself to work. Because I didn’t have due dates, this was challenging.

I quickly realized that if I wanted to be productive, I would have to change my approach to the project. I started by creating a schedule every week. This schedule would contain what three recipes I will make, what stores I have to visit, and which members of my family I would talk to. I have been following a schedule since week two. I quickly realized that the schedule really helped me. Having my days planned out ahead of time made my work much easier and efficient. Switching to a schedule also made my days less stressful because I wouldn’t need to think of what to do on the spot.

This has taught me a lot about who I am as a learner. At the beginning of the project, I thought that I could get everything done without anything guiding me. I now realize If I don’t add my own structure to something I will procrastinate and be unproductive. Creating a schedule rally fixes this issue. I now wish I could have only learned that sooner.
