Spencer Rosenblum-Critical Reflection #5

 Metacognition:

  • What have you discovered about your process, your habits?

One of the things that I have noticed about my process is that when I am not working in person, or with other people (so for this project that means on blog posts and my aerospace classes) there is most definitely a sweet zone of my attention span somewhere between 15 minutes to an hour. If I work much longer then this without taking at least one 5 minute break, my ability to focus really decreases, made only worse if I don’t have a deadline. I also have a habit of starting work and finishing it later, which is not always good because sometimes a problem can be complex and hard to walk away from. I think that there is quite an easy solution. Short, simple work goals with clear deadline and a “reward” of a 5-10 minute break. One example might be to finish 2 videos in my aeronautical class and finish both accompanying quizzes in under 45 minutes. This sort of clear goal setting will give me a deadline and motivation while also giving me clear and consistent breaks from work.

  •  Now, what do you know you don’t know? Circle back to your essential question.

I think as my project has gone on I have focused quite a bit on aeronautics but not so much on the astronautical. However, I think this actually comes down to the fact that I have already taken intro courses in astronautical engineering. But I still don’t feel like I really have a solid answer to the “what is different between planes and spacecraft” question.
