Connect to outside sources (article/book/podcast/ted talk/blog/website/etc)
- This is a Text investigation. Consider your essential question in the context of at least two outside sources you have identified that connect to your essential question. How do these ideas resonate with or challenge your own beliefs, experiences, or practices? Be sure to give concrete and specific examples. You may want to address: ways the sources answered parts of your Essential Question, what additional questions were raised, or how your essential understanding of your project was altered or confirmed by the readings you did. Make sure to cite your sources.
One outside source that I have used is a podcast called Just Women’s Sports. It focuses on female professional athletes and their journey to the top. Athletes from a wide array of sports are featured and each journey is different. This podcast helps relate to my essential questions because these athletes are sharing their experiences about how they trained at all different levels. I can apply this to my project to an extent to improve myself and the project itself.
Another source I have used is a ted talk on sports psychology by Martin Hagger. What he brings up a lot is having a winning mentality. This mentality helps elite-level athletes use their defeats to improve their performance and win next time. Although I don’t like to lose I can use this mentality in my own life in order to be a constantly improving athlete.
Thanks for those references. Make sure you are taking notes when you listen to these podcasts/ted talks.
It’s worth reaching out to one of these people. If you want, I could help you come up with some questions for an interview that would dovetail with your essential question.
