Critical Reflection #3: Olivia Cueto

Now that you’re three weeks (half way) into your senior project experience, are you answering your essential question?

  1. How are you exploring your essential question; is it different from what you expected? If you don’t feel like you’re answering your essential question, what is happening that’s different from what you expected?

In my first three weeks of senior project I have definitely been moving along with my essential question in the back of my mind at all times, however, i feel that i work best not always making my top priority to find an answer to my essential question. At the beginning of the senior project, when i would be in an interview or reading a story, I’ve found that I would get easily caught up trying to find an answer for my essential question rather than enjoying the moment and genuinely learning about whatever I would be spending my time doing. So as I have made my way to the third week of the senior project, I am so glad that I have learned this lesson because otherwise I dont think the upcoming/last few weeks of the senior project would’ve been as enjoyable as I hope they would be.

  1. Are you surprised by any of the challenges that you’ve faced so far? How have you met those challenges and what can you do going forward to deal with them?

I talked a bit about this in my second critical reflection, but I have definitely faced challenges with not only my essential question, but i’ve also had to learn many important academic lessons during my senior project.

  1. Writing on your essential question: What have you learned about your essential question so far? What further questions do you have? and/or Has your essential question changed? If so, how?  What do you want to know more about?

The next question i am thinking of is will my essential question be changed a third time? Or even fourth? And can that actually be a good thing? I have already switched my essential question once which had ended up being a really good decision because finally started to enjoy my project.
