The reason why I chose to do this project is because I have a close personal connection to the subject. I struggled a lot at LREI at first because I felt extremely different than the other students. I hated coming to school and it is reflected on my attendance the first two years. I consider myself an outgoing person and I make friends easily but at LREI it was so different. I struggled to make friends and did things that do not represent who I am. I feel like this happens often for students of color especially for the ones that come from a public middle school. I love this project because I can help kids just like me to make their transition easier! Feeling left out is normal when being a student of color at at Predominantly white institution but this shouldnt be okay!
