Rei Weintraub – Week 2 Documentation (Post #2)

April 22nd

Today in my in person EMT class, we went over trauma and medical assessments. We are almost done with the 5 month course and have learned all of the skills we need for our exam. At this point, we are just reviewing and practicing everything. So far, I have learned trauma assessment (what you do when you arrive on the scene of a traumatic event), a medical assessment (identifying and recording the needs of someone in need of medical help), BVM ventilation, oxygen administration (through BVM mask, non-rebreather and nasal cannula), bleeding control, shock management, cardiac arrest management, AEDs, joint immobilization, and bone immobilization. In a couple of weeks, I am going to have a skills exam in which I am going to be tested on all of these skills. At this point, I am still feeling a little bit nervous, so I am planning on practicing the skills at home using my sister…
