Stella Propp- Journal Week 2

Aside from my regular baking, decorating, packaging, and shipping out duties, this week was dedicated to The Hunter Circuit Foundation whose goal is to help support talented and underfunded young equestrians. This is my business’ chosen charity of the year where all of our proceeds will go to.

For several hours on Wednesday and Thursday, I prepared for my zoom meeting with the founder. I thought of questions I wanted to ask, strategies to implement to make everything go as smoothly as possible, brainstormed potential topics of conversation, etc. Furthermore, I met with two young riders via zoom who were chosen as the first-ever recipients of the Hunter Circuit Foundation! It was so great to speak with them and see their excitement! It felt good to know that my business and its earnings were contributing to making these girls’ dreams come true.

Friday came time for the official meeting. It went very well. I filled her in on what I was doing for my senior project as well as how the business is going so far. We discussed a lot of logistics for these girls and their travel to make their first horseback riding competition as good as it can be.

This week was extremely helpful for me. Working with this chosen charity hands-on is very different from what I am used to. It’s nice to be really involved instead of just leaving a check! I am excited about what else is to come.
