I am meeting regularly with musician Talor Steinberg of “The Moon City Masters” band to discuss promotion tactics when distributing music. Talor gave me an in-depth understanding of music distribution, publishing, and promotion that helped me understand a part of my essential question: “How can I distribute a song to online stores and how does it compare to my expectations?” Talor distributes his music through “TuneCore,” publishes through “ASCAP,” and promotes his music through ads on Instagram. Through these resources, Talor’s band has seen consistent growth in their following and the number of streams on their songs. I would have never considered TuneCore, publishing through ASCAP, or even promoting my music through ads if I had not started meeting with Talor to discuss this. I will be meeting with Talor every week. I also contacted another musician, Chris Crocco, who I will meet with every week as well to mentor me and provide feedback for my music.
