Nina Gerzema – Critical Reflection #2

Describe a moment and analyze“Write about a single experience or moment, and ask: how does this moment, experience, or encounter relate to my essential question?”

  • At first, before I had interviewed anyone, and even before my fifth and sixth interviews, I went in thinking, there must be a lot of painful memories for people who have lived through so many ghastly events. But as I got into each interview, I realized that the things everyone had gone through were just difficult moments in their lives. Nothing to get hung up on, nothing to make one’s positive outlook on life alter or diminish, but something to overcome and grow stronger because it happened and because they got through it with hope, faith, passion, and love. I have also gathered that music is a theme that courses through everyone’s life. It makes tough times become all the less difficult to endure getting through and coming out the other side. It is also a way to celebrate, grieve, and remember whom or whatever one wishes to. A beautiful motif throughout the interviews I’ve had so far.
