Critical Reflection #1

I have just started. I have read an essay on Indian Moral Thought. I have read This Is Water by David Foster Wallace. These have just started me on the journey I will take over the 6 weeks of Senior Project. I realized that in order to truly understand and absorb material, I need to throw everything I thought I knew out the window.

The essay on Indian Moral Thought taught me so much. It started with the concept of dharma. It went through different definitions of dharma, and what that means for morality. It gave me a starting point, an introduction to moral philosophy that I will need going into the other texts I will be reading.

David Foster Wallace taught me how awareness of our surroundings is necessary to understand anything in life, to decenter perspective from oneself. It gave.  me a framework of thought that I need to take into consideration when reading the other texts. Over all, what I took away from this week is that I am less prepared than I thought, but this week started to prepare me.
