Project Plan- Jack A

Project Title: Psychology and Me

Essential Question(s):

How can we help those who are suffering from a psychological crisis?

Statement of Purpose

I hope that my senior project can help people who are suffering from certain psychological crisis. Since mental health professionals are in such demand during covid I hope that my final product gives people a resource that they don’t have. Psychology has always been an interest of mine and I thought that this project would work well with that interest and be good in preparation for my major in college which is psychology.

Overview: Describe your topic and project to the committee.

Psychology has always been an interest of mine so I knew that I wanted my senior project to line up with that interest. I also know that especially during covid the need for mental health professionals has skyrocketed and that people are struggling with mental health even more now. I think this project tackles all 4c’s because it will hopefully better the community. My mentor for the project is my long time psychologist Sam Fasulo.

How will you measure your success?

I would consider my senior project successful if people are thankful for my final product. My final product is a pamphlet that explains how to assess, and help someone going through a psychological crisis. For me to consider my project successful would require me to put in a lot of effort and research to make this useful for other people.

Resource List

My resources are the psychologists that I already know and Coursera classes. A book that I plan to read is Johns Hopkins guide to psychological first Aid. Also, a book called “It didn’t start with you by Mark Wolynn.

Daily Plan & Schedule

Every weekday for the 6 weeks I will be taking an online course which I assume will take 2-3 hours of my day and then I will do homework for that course and my own research for the pamphlet. Also, once a week I will conduct an interview, take notes on the interview, and write a short report about it pulling quotes together as well.

Documentation Plan

Explain why this is the appropriate documentation for you and your project and how this plan fits your project. If you plan to use platforms other than the Senior Project blog, please make sure to include them here (e.g., another blog, journal, Google Doc, Instagram, etc.), intended frequency of updates, general description of the content (reflective writing, photos, essays, etc), the URL for digital documentation or the sharing plan for analog documentation. (Documentation must be updated at least twice per week and be accessible to the committee.)

The documentation will be the fact that I can show the courses that I completed. Also, the write-ups of each interview and the final product which is the pamphlet. Another final product I could possibly do is possibly a simpler poster design that allows not only the adults to understand it, but also younger children, therefore more people can benefit from my project. I could use more images and maybe some simpler terms so it broadens the audience.

Material Needs

Note the material needs you are requesting from school (including workspace & monetary needs) and the needs you are filling outside of school, including materials you already own. These needs should be items that you have already discussed and have been approved.

Backup Plan

If something goes wrong – an internship falls through, an outside circumstance makes your project no longer feasible, you find that your project is not answering your essential question – what will you do? Ideal backup plans rely on known resources and only a single essential question.

I was informed that my project was approved.
