Project Title: Program Director for Computers 4 People
Essential Question(s):
How can I work with Computers 4 People to help them complete their mission as well as further my education in business?
Statement of Purpose
For my senior project, I will be working with Dylan Zajac every weekday out of the C4P office in Hoboken. My current main jobs include managing and communicating with volunteers, applying for grants, and keeping the CRM, inventory, and financial systems up to date. I also help with picking up, refurbishing, and dropping off computers.
Overview: Describe your topic and project to the committee.
Computers 4 People is based on providing under-resourced low-income individuals access to technology in order to enable opportunities provided in the online world. C4P is the perfect place for me to work because it gives the learning experience of spearheading the growth of a small nonprofit.
How will you measure your success?
My current main jobs have to do with managing volunteers and fundraising. If I can create solid communication with volunteers and set up a schedule that is efficient for C4P as well as have the grant applications I am writing be accepted I will be happy. The overall measure of C4P’s success is in the number of individuals in need that we have been able to provide a computer or tablet to. Setting up a plan for the next year or two regarding the nonprofit is also something I am working towards helping.
Key learning goals:
Learn how to manage a small nonprofit (manage my time, multitasking ability, working with volunteers and staff)
Communicate with outside companies (talking and setting up partnerships/sponsorships and applying for grants)
Managing and tracking volunteers, financials, and inventory (working in CRM system to track volunteers applicants and donors, inventory system to track computers, and QuickBooks to track budget, earrings, cashflow)

Daily Plan & Schedule
The first-week plan: Organize desktops setups, list main goals on a whiteboard, make a daily to-do list every day, apply for a grant from the Hoboken family alliance community and other organizations, split and deliver 17 laptops to Workforce advantage, community access, BRC. Learn CRM, inventory, financial, systems. Begin newsletter and contact, interested volunteers. Start logging personal and volunteer hours
The second week: Continue grant applications and volunteer relations. Finalize schedule for pickup and delivery dates, find a driver, and possible C4P van.
The third week: Continue past endeavors. Possibly work on a new computer literacy program to be integrated into the C4P website.
Plans for weeks 4-6 are still to be determined depending on where we are at at the time.

Documentation Plan
I will write a short blog post that documents the work done for the day. This blog will be used to help organize time, reflect on what needs to be worked on more, and tell a story both of the nonprofit and my personal growth and learning. The blog will be formatted around the questions “What did I do today? What work did I do to accomplish our goals? Both C4P and personal goals. What are the plans for tomorrow?” The C4P Instagram will also be frequently updated with news.
