(I changed up my idea a bit).
For twelve years I have been an avid equestrian. I have dedicated the majority of my time to practicing and improving my horseback riding technique. With that time came my need to do something for the riding community. I started a horse treat business with my sisters and we decided to do a new charity each year. In the past few years, we have donated our profits to animal welfare charities. But, with COVID-19, equestrians struggled more to potentially continue the sport at all. For my senior project, I want to support talented and underfunded young equestrians as well as learn more about my business that I started several years ago.
The essential questions that I am thinking about so far are:
- What are strategies that can help my business grow in the time of COVID-19 and further down the road?
- How can I use my business to make a lasting and memorable impact in our ever-changing world?
- How can my newfound business knowledge further help me support these young equestrians and the movement in which I choose to join?
In order to dive into answering these questions, I need to continue the growth of my business and possibly talk to other entrepreneurs to get their input on how and what I can improve on in order to learn and advance more. With that wisdom can come more profits and with those profits, I can help as many young equestrians in need as possible. I will not just donate to my chosen charity, but actually, help out and be active within.
My working idea so far is feasible for me. I have all my business supplies in check, everything I want to do/explore can be done fully online, and there are people off the top of my head that I can think of to speak to about their self-started businesses who are very successful and driven. As for the movement that I will be donating this year’s profits to, I am already in contact with the founder and have filled her in on this project in particular. It is called the Hunter Circuit Foundation which supports talented and underfunded young equestrians. There is even a documentary coming out on ABC that I will hopefully be involved in!
