For my senior project, I am particularly interested in a project that focuses on how the music industry has changed and adapted to Covid. I have always been passionate about the music industry’s different aspects, including management, publishing, and production. Thinking about the critical essential questions driving my inquiry, I began to reflect on the industry’s covid’s impact. My critical questions are: In light go the closing of live performance venues what are the alternatives for revenue streams for artists? In what ways has artists adapted to Covid (making music, collaborating, and releasing music)? What is the future of the music industry and live performance? In what covid changes will lead to long-term changes?

One of my feasible options during our current pandemic climate is to work at my mom’s entertainment startup Now/with. Now/with shoppable entertainment where brands and talent are being connected to create shopping experiences. The music section of Now/with is in the works of being built, and I would work hands-on with artists and brands. A large part of the music industry now connects artists with brands and platforms to distribute their music. At Now//with, I would have the first-hand experience of seeing how these artists adapt to the current situation.
Another alternative for the experiential portion of the project is working

at a music publishing company. This approach for the project would be ideal. However, I don’t know what is possible due to the pandemic and where we will be in a couple of months. For this project, I would plan to be located in Los Angeles, California, where I would work day today at Pulse Publishing. This is very feasible as my parents are bicoastal and I have interned before. I would be located in LA. I would also get to sit in recording studio sessions with artists and some of the producers. This would ultimately be such an incredible hands-on experience and something that I would hope to make happen. However, I am not sure what is possible.
Ultimately both ideas would be feasible and doable. I know that both would result in a fantastic final product as I would answer my last questions and have an excellent working experience.
