Senior Project gives us the opportunity to explore an interest and apply it to a social or political issue that we’re passionate about. I’ve always been an advocate for environmental justice and protection so my first thought was to incorporate photography, another passion of mine, with climate change, pollution, sea level rise, etc. While I’m still considering using that idea for my project, I recognize that now would be a good time to expand my knowledge around other issues I’m not as familiar with. I did a photography project last year that focused on documenting homelessness in New York. I was fascinated by what I learned and what I was able to accomplish in such a short time. Another idea I had was to focus on mental illness, particularly from the perspective of older people. As a teenager, I really have no relationship with anyone older than my parents. I can imagine how interesting it would be to talk about issues and document their reality through a completely different lens. So far, I know I would like to use photography as a means of documenting my project but I’m still undecided on the issue to focus on.
Also, I’ve tried uploading the images multiple times but I’m not sure they’re visible. Sorry for the inconvenience!
