On one of my scuba dives during vacation, I noticed a serious lack of life and colors and beauty. This image recurred everyday we would dive and even in different areas. I began to really notice a change in the ocean’s behavior and well-being and knew that the Ocean want be able to last much long and that change is needed and needed now. Reefs are dying, fish are dying and the ocean is dying.

I discovered a passion for scuba diving the second I tried it. Something about that first moment underwater just clicked in me and still resonates in me. Not only did it open up a new passion within myself, but has encouraged me to seek help and give my own support and help. I feel like Im good at bringing people together and persuading people on topics and issues that need focus.

• State Your Purpose

I want to make a change to the decaying coral reef preservations around the world. I believe together we can all make a change not only for the reefs, but for the ocean and it’s living creatures beneath. There are too many discussions on this and not enough action.

I am not exactly sure if this will be the right senior project for me, or if I even want to commit to this, but if I do, I want to do whatever one person can do to make change. I am unclear how that will look now, but hope to do research and come across a strong plan.

 

I want people to feel a relation with me. To understand the importance of and help the coral reefs. To want me to succeed.
